330D. Summer mode

Winter mode

Just had the summer wheels powder coated metallic gunmetal and a DM Autoteile front splitter painted and fitted, along with their rear diffusor

How tight a fit was the LS? I know BMW stuffed the S65 into the E90 M3, but I sort of wondered if the quad-cam version of the LS7 might fit in, say, a 320Si that's cracked its engine...

In the best colour too. Seriously considering one of these (also in 330d guise) when my F11's time is up.

Very tight. Mine had super stiff engine mounts because it had no room to flex. I didn't build it obviously. Someone else spent years doing that. I found an e46 in Europe for sale with a BMW v8 fitted but its left hand drive unfortunately

Right. How much more width is there in the E90 bay?

There is another ls engine e46 which comes on here. It's a red m3. Have you seen it?

The S54 spat a rod out the block. I think he intended to put a V8 in long term anyway for more track performance. The failure just meant it got done sooner.

And the ls3 is probably pumping out 500 bhp too so there is an additional benefit. I think its lighter too. I found the gearbox in mine a bit agricultural and the final drive was way too low. Mine had the box from car which donatedits engine but the different from an e46 m3. So these clearly these 2 were never meant to work together. Not sure what he has done to his. I never used first gear in mine unless I wanted to light up the tyres. Got a little video of it somewhere I can post up I guess now its long gone.

Really needs a proper polish but gave the car a proper clean yesterday. Still chuffed with the new bumper but really undecided how I want to mount the front plate. Few suggestions of a sticker plate but not sure. Looking further in to the car and everything is straight but likely going to give it to my bodywork guy and get the front end panels all removed and realigned or replaced. Previous owner hit a deer with the front left (I did see pictures) but never really noticed the shutlines on the passenger side, looks super obvious in photos rolleyes
