Finally got my M340i that was trapped in lockdown and now been ceramic coated. Running it in and finally getting close to giving it some welly!

that looks menacing - what are those rear tints, 100% ? lol
They look like the standard tint to me, tints on black cars always look darker!

Really nice, a 155mph estate car! Every review I read and watch is superlative......My “run out model” shadow edition came in at 23k. A big saving on the 40k list price. Not bad for 14 months old and 2300 miles on the clock!

Standard BMW tints. The black makes it look quite menacing but the noise is the excellent. Swapped from a 535d and the performance so far keeping it below 4000rpm has been great.

Current ones...

E46, ready to swallow the ££££. Owned for over 3yrs now. Still intent on keeping it for a long time.

Picked up this E61 525d earlier in the year. Real love hate relationship with this thing. It's great for towing though.

We had our M340i stolen and it actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Ended up buying a 340i, 20K less, in my view I actually think the older model is much more handsome and not really noticed any real difference in useable performance. 4 Wheel drive might have been useful in the winter / snow, but other than that, actually happier with the replacement.

I should add I think the M340i is a great car and a much smarter interior, so not trying to pee on your fireworks!

I think S54B32 is a better name than M57D25TÜ, good choice. 18s on an E46 M3 are horny.

Surely it's M57D30TÜ2; the M57D25 is an E39ism.

hehe - it's clear one of you is a proper BMW beard, and the other one up-and-coming...

It's a pre-LCI 525d so has the 2.5

Isn't the "detuned" B30 I hear so much about.

To be honest it's not ideal. As far as I can tell I have the performance of the 520d and the fuel economy of the 530d. Weird middle ground.

A bit too murdered out for me, but I really like these I think the G chassis cars are a massive step up from the F chassis versions, it's bloody quick as well from what I've seen.

Enjoy.

He’s got the best 3/4’s of it though. I’ve always thought the front let them down

Interesting feedback, can you tell me more about any dynamic differences, how does the steering feel, suspension, handling compare? Not many people out there seem to have genuine experience of both.

Its quite hard to summarise precise differences as we only had the m340 3 months before it got nicked.

I would say it felt stiffer and more solid than the 340, and I would say felt a little more planted on the road, but it also felt bigger to drive. Not sure the exact size differences but I know the 340 seems more nimble.

The xdrive 0-60 felt brutal in sport, faster in most cases than my M5 before it. I have to admit it was fun at the lights , but on the open road I don't think there is that much of a noticeable difference, both are quick cars.

Both cars are/ were specced to the hilt so comfort wise quite similar, I personally find touch screens a nightmare to use when moving, so never really used it. Both have HUD and whilst the newer cars was better, not enough for me to remember the detail. Main thing for me is the speed and sat nav directions and they both have that.

So I would say the newer car is probably all round 10% better, not 50% of the price difference.

New model is not worth the extra money over price of a 1 year old used previous model in PH shocker.
