I was like that with my Z4MR and I liked it from the side and the rear, but the front didn't do much for me.

We had our M340i stolen and it actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Ended up buying a 340i, 20K less, in my view I actually think the older model is much more handsome and not really noticed any real difference in useable performance. 4 Wheel drive might have been useful in the winter / snow, but other than that, actually happier with the replacement.

I should add I think the M340i is a great car and a much smarter interior, so not trying to pee on your fireworks!

Interesting feedback, can you tell me more about any dynamic differences, how does the steering feel, suspension, handling compare? Not many people out there seem to have genuine experience of both.
Its quite hard to summarise precise differences as we only had the m340 3 months before it got nicked.

I would say it felt stiffer and more solid than the 340, and I would say felt a little more planted on the road, but it also felt bigger to drive. Not sure the exact size differences but I know the 340 seems more nimble.

The xdrive 0-60 felt brutal in sport, faster in most cases than my M5 before it. I have to admit it was fun at the lights , but on the open road I don't think there is that much of a noticeable difference, both are quick cars.

Both cars are/ were specced to the hilt so comfort wise quite similar, I personally find touch screens a nightmare to use when moving, so never really used it. Both have HUD and whilst the newer cars was better, not enough for me to remember the detail. Main thing for me is the speed and sat nav directions and they both have that.

So I would say the newer car is probably all round 10% better, not 50% of the price difference.
New model is not worth the extra money over price of a 1 year old used previous model in PH shocker.
Technically it's more like 4 years, not sure where you got 1 year from.

Every time a new car comes out there are always posts from people saying the new model isn't worth £x more than a previous model which is only 1 year old or more. But guess what people still buy new cars and the merry go round keeps turning.

I think most BMWs suffer with that in terms of the front end never being their best feature, the Z4M/C shape is so good from so many angles with lots of lovely detailing (without being fussy) it's easy to forgive that slightly droopy look.

Indeed, the thread was nearly ruined a while back by a poster taking exception to and slagging off every new BMW posted and we really don't need these "mines better and cheaper" posts either in response to someone just simply sharing their car with us, it's the point of the thread after all.

So you don't think a car forum, especially this one, is a place to give feedback when you have owned both cars, especially when someone asks?

I think it's a great car , but I would expect someone looking to buy one may find some balanced advice useful? Obviously not...

Ok I see I have hit a nerve. Comparing how the 2 cars drive is fine. Maybe it should be encouraged. Small incremental changes from old model to new are always going to be almost impossible to justify in a monetary sense if the comparison is brand new to used.

Comparing the price of the new model when new to the price of the old model when new might be valid.

To say the brand new car is not worth 20 to 40% more than an older model which is used and 2 or 3 years old is totally irrelevant if you ask me. There will always be a market for new cars. The main driver for this is that they are new and shiny and new and shiny and new etc etc.

If everyone based their buying decision on the price of their new car to the price of a car which is 2 or 3 years old and used then not many would buy new cars right. That would make the whole car market very strange. Some people just want new.

If I may raise my head above t'parapet...

I'm actually quite grateful for the feedback provided comparing the two, as I'm likely to be upsizing early in the new year and am basically between the F30 340i Touring with the MPPSK and the M340i as to what I replace my M140i with. Of course I'll be looking to test both cars, but I'll likely be looking at year-to-18-month-old G20s and 24+ month old F30s so at least some of that old-versus-new price differentiation disappears.

I thought I'd seen it. Looks great and way better in the metal. I just don't think that colour photographs too well.

Yes, the colour changes depending on the light. In shade it looks grey to almost white in full sun.

There is another HS M2C I've seen locally though it has a private plate.

What work have you have done? I presume a remap?

Yes, a remap only, with everything else stock as I want an OEM car but wanted to open up the B58 to it's true potential. Actual figures are 430bhp and 620 NM, though the dials were changed as part of the process. Don't really feel the need or desire to go any further.

430bhp from just a remap? Did you get it on a RR? Who did the remap?

Yes, B58 so remaps produce 420 > 450 depending on which RR you use. I used BW in Hayes, who have a dyno dynamics RR. They state it is an honest dyno that will always read below other places. He has been on and on at me to take it to Charlie at SRR purely to see what figures it makes, so I have booked in for next weekend. It should be over 430 on his.

The B58's tend to roll around 360bhp stock, so in reality this may be only a 65bhp ish jump. I am interested to see what SRR figures are though. They should be higher than the below. I went with the Black map, not the red.
