Congratulations - it was noted for sale on the barge thread and received some praise. I've often said a 535i is a great choice from the E34 pallet, an unburstable engine with oodles of torque - the sports seats on E34's are also fabulous.

Please take the effort to swap the side repeaters over as they have been put on the wrong sides, the edges should match the angle of the wheel arch...

...and check the sills for crusty bits if you want it to last.

It’s been in and had extensive repairs and restoration work done over the past year or so. I spoke to the chap who did the work after taking his number from the plates. He’d actually looked after it for 20+ years alongside Motech on the south coast.

My beard isn't quite as full as it used to be, but do I spy Hartge wheels?

Looks great on them too, a classy alternative to the regularly seen m-paras, x-spokes or Alpinas.

They do, although I really want AC Schnitzer rims.

mmm period correct Hartge, with a lovely rear dish. D'ont see that very often.

If I ever need a four door classic a similar car to this would be top of the list. Top choice as usual Mark!

A good friend has a calypso E34 M5 with Schnitzers - I wouldn't say it to his face but I prefer the Hartges.

Personally those Hartges are amongst the best aftermarket wheels that have ever graced an 80s or 90s BMW. The only Schnitzers that come close as the ultra rare Type 2 split rims and even then I think I prefer the muktispokes.

Of course, the split rim Hartges are another level again!

Arrived today.

Has sat unused for a couple of months so needs a thorough cleaning and a service. Most of all it just needs driving though.

Thank you.

I've only ever had one other E34, which was a 525tds and a bit of an old shed, but this has clearly been cherished by it's previous owners. The most recent of which has sadly developed dementia or else he'd still be driving it today. He's done a terrific job of keeping the service history together and there's a binder with every invoice he's ever paid. I also spoke to Motech in Bournemouth who looked after servicing and the body restorers who did that side of things and both remember the car well and report all to be well. Inside, the leather could do with a thorough clean and some hide feed but the overall condition is great. The only negative being the headlining on the sunroof really but I'll sort that myself. The steering wheel could do with a visit to Jack Royal and a period Blaupunkt would be nice. First job would be a decent exhaust though and given the extortionate price of an OE system I think a Supersprint seems the best option or maybe Eisenmann? Just a shame their six branch manifolds are LHD only.

I can recommend the Fritz Bitz stainless steel exhaust system as I have one fitted to my 635CSi and will be fitting one to my M635CSi.

They do a specific E34 M30 system which should suit but a word of caution about fitting a stainless steel six branch manifold; a few E24and E28 owners have done this and immediately noticed issues with significantly increased under-bonnet temperatures - that can be mitigated with a ceramic coating or wrapping but it's a bit of a faff when the manifold gives you virtually nothing on power and a few compromises.

That’s a proper Mark purchase. Lovely. Hartge wheels on an E34 are proper too. cloud9

I can't personally vouch for them but Blaupunkt do a retro Bremen with DAB, Bluetooth, USB, streaming etc...

...and you may find it cheaper if you shop around.
