The Phaeton hinge is just a nicer version of what you get on an E46, E39 etc. There's no excuse for big bulky luggage-crushers... and I for one DO use the top of the luggage space in my E39 Tourings when hauling furniture, appliances etc.

That must be because BMW tend to do things properly!

My Rover P6B had a strut you had to unclip and locate in the hole in the bonnet to hold it up - British engineering at it's best (POS really). banghead

BMWs of that era didn't have gas struts either, just front-hinged bonnets that had to be lifted past the vertical to stop them falling over, same as my E30... it wasn't until the E31 and E36 that BMW moved to a rear-hinged gas-strut bonnet.

Whilst I'm sure we can all appreciate a nice hinge, I'm not sure why this has even come up? Who really cares that much about a hinge?!
I might be a traditionalist but I only care if it doesn’t work, other than that I’m not a sad tt

Really needs a good clean and I think it looks under-wheeled too.

You're right- it does look like a small wheel. But at the same time, I imagine the ride is already firm enough on 19 inch wheels.

It'd probably look better with spacers.

To be honest, the ride is surprisingly good, perhaps the Adaptive makes a difference.

I think because you have all of the extra lower spoilers fitted...that it makes the wheels look smaller maybe. Everyone does rave about Adaptive from what I hear.

Here's a couple of photos of my BMW (this is the correct thread... right?!)

Really needed a good wash after a weekend down in the new forest, 'testing' overtaking manoeuvres.

I finally joined the club. Pick this up on Thursday.

I spent two months looking for a 335D Xdrive and somehow ended up with a 340i RWD biggrin
