Newbie Selling 850ci needs advice
Discussion
Hi Guys, right I finally got some photos and will upload later today.
Just a quick one tho. I tried to start the car but it was completely dead, after a while I finally found the battery (in the boot?!?!?) but then I found another (what looks like) battery also in the boot.
does this car have 2 battery's and will i need to jump start both?
cheers again

These cars are notoriously fussy about their batteries. They will always drain the batteries if left for any significant time and a tender is recommended.
Poor batteries throw up all sorts of wierd and spurious errors, the majority of which clear themselves when new batteries are fitted. The batteries are wired in parallel (though not directly in parallel!) and unless both are on top form, can cause problems.
A jump start is possible using the terminal post under the bonnet but be warned, it is always best to thoroughly charge flat batteries and start the engine that way. The electronics can be a bit sensitive to spikes and surges, so a jump start with two completely flat batteries is not recommended.
If the batteries are old, then replacements will be required, I'm afraid, to avoid continual errors and bizarre behaviour. Two new batteries aren't cheap - but then - this is an 850....!

Let me get this right, the OP knows nothing about cars but is clued up enought to blank out the rear number plate in the photos & has access to BMW software on his laptop - oh, & he knows about Pistonheads. Sounds like a dodgy dealer promoting his wares to me. Always strange how the dodgy ones manage to lose the history on the leggy motors & how once lost the cars is not so leggy, especially with that laptop!
Always convenient also when you know nothing about cars & yet have a car to sell that is not registered in your name & yet you know just where to promote it

Correct, I know nothing about cars but do know enough about privacy and also have seen enough car sales sites that also do the same.volvos60s60 said:

Tinted rear lights aren't so great and the shot of the top of the engine there looks to be some discolouration might even be an oil leak.. though it could just be a trick of the light in the photo..
I also thought the only S8 Schnitzer ever produced was a conversion of the Z8 Roadster..?

I quite like the tinted lights... But I'm biased :-)I also thought the only S8 Schnitzer ever produced was a conversion of the Z8 Roadster..?
Discolouration is the protective fluid bmw spray on before export. Should be taken off by dealer but not always done...
Schnitzer S8 was originally for the 8 series... I've got one....

yeah, looks terrible and NO, I still haven't seen mine, although breath is well and truly bated and negotiations are ongoing with wife ... I'm sticking to my argument that at no time did I say that the red one was INSTEAD OF the blue one
