What BMW offered 20 years ago as the top of the range, they're now offering as the smallest coupe. How times changed

Pity they look as ugly as sin.
I think a 135i 3dr hatch would be a better looking motor. Pity they dont make it...
Yes, 3 door hatch would be handy. And, its not really that ugly I dont think..I think a 135i 3dr hatch would be a better looking motor. Pity they dont make it...
Just look at the new Skyline. Thats ugly, but because of its "awesome" performance, people don't appear to give a toss how it looks and drool over it anyway. Each to their own huh!

P,
Well, its not that ugly if you squint at it with the sun in your eyes whilst you've got a blinding headache ....Just look at the new Skyline. Thats ugly, but because of its "awesome" performance, people don't appear to give a toss how it looks and drool over it anyway. Each to their own huh!
P,
I don't doubt the performance credentials of the 135 in whatever form it comes in, but it just isn't a good looking car. At all. Especially with the coupe - it looks way too upright, it looks frumpy, kinda sit up and beg, not at all sleek.
BMW really have badly lost their way with design over the last few years.
Seems like the source of these figures have done some SERIOUS data doctoring.
The M635 CSi was even quoted by BMW as being a fast car- faster than posted here.
I also think the fuel economy figure quoted is unfair as the old style steady cycle figures cant be directly compared to the newer EUDC style figures. Again a case of selective data doctoring. I wouldn't be suprised if the worst case fuel consumption of the M635 CSi was compared to a much better case of the 1 series.
Anyway, how can anyone compare Bracqs timeless masterpiece with Bangles dogs dinner?
One was inspired, the other is a fashion accesory, thoroughly engineered if overly complicated and robust?

Honest, Rup, it wasn't me.We should get Rene to manufacture a GRP stick-on shark nose for Bangle's dogs dinner
BTW, I've ordered a new car, do we want to sample it, when it arrives in late May? A hoon through the Taunus?

I travel to Germany a bit, but it tends to be more Bavaria instead....
I'm in the market for a 'new' car also, only because the climate is great where I now I am, I WILL NOT let the car be newer than about 35 years with no ECUS and with an engine no smaller than 6.6 litres

My new car shall have 204PS from an unmodified two litre engine. yhm

I can only imagine it's something Japanese then, like a Honda....
Although it could be a newish boosted dieseasel of some sort?
BTW still haven't received any email....

As a former M635 owner I can attest first-hand to the rubbish of the performance figures. My current Alpina does the sixty dash in around 5 secconds and the M6 didn't feel appreciably slower. No way was it 7.7! Around 6 would be more on the money. The M635 CSi was even quoted by BMW as being a fast car- faster than posted here.

As for the fuel economy though, I'm not sure that's too far out. Mine drank for Britain and the only thing that saved it was the large fuel tank (70 litres from memory). I used to regularly see the out-laws in York (400 mile round trip on motorways) and would never be able to do it on one tank. Autocar's original test talked about a combined mpg of 22...
My old car is actually up for sale (can't buy her back as I'm buying a new house). She's a good one make no mistake: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C32809
