Nice 530i, being so young, like me... why didnt you go for a 3er and not a old man 5er?

Becuase driving a 5 Series is great - they are in many respects nicer cars than the 3 Series. And having one at a young age is no bad thing at all, I bought mine at 22. Would have been 21 if I didnt take so long to find a car. 5's also offer better value than 3's, which is a consideration for us young guys who dont have Daddy to buy us £35k cars.

Hi Danny, I recognise you from BMW5 smile

Because they are belting cars that give immense pleasure to drive everyday.

They also look a lot more car than the 3-series and, I would guess they pull a better class of totty when one is only 20 years old biggrin

Lovely looking car Danny, is that the sort of ocean green/blue? Love it.

You probably won't come across me as I am just over the border on the southern edge of East Yorks ... I have a trusty 1/4 million mile 525 TDS Tourer and a VERY soon to be finished (next weekend fingers crossed) totally restored and somewhat tweaked 850 for when I'm not driving something Italian smile (pics are all on my profile if you're interested).

It's Slate Green - a really, really rare but lovely colour. Most people shyed away from it when new but in the flesh its great. My dads 530d SE is Slate Green, the colour looks different depending on the light.

Slate Green Sports are even nicer cloud9

A 5 series is not as attractive mate, so i dont agree there. Im sure a new 3er is far more attractive than an old 5er to ''totty'' as it were.

Subjective point, I think the 5's have always had the edge looks wise over the 3, especially the later E39 shape.

And I suspect that 20 yr old totty wouldn't know a 2002 '5 from a 2005 '3 - they'd just use the premise bigger is better biggrin

Your average girl who isnt into cars doesn't know the difference, they are both simply shiney BMW's. Do you have anything to add to this thread beyond 'my car is better so there'? He's clearly chuffed with his car and if he wanted to look like everyone else in a 3 Series I'm sure he'd have bought one.

Blah blah blah.

What a pathetic conversation. Before this thread ends up locked just accept that is is horses for courses. If you met on the street would you really be arguing this ''mines better than yours'' bks.

If someone thinks a 5 series is an old mans car or the 3 series is better looking then I really dont care. Im 27 if that really matters. I take more care and interest in wiping my backside. I am a BMW enthusiast, not a 5 or 3 series one. I love them all.

Anyway, kick back and have a beer, but before I do Im going for a spin in my 400bhp old mans car.... smile smile

Just checked your profile. That car is absolutely stunning. And the smug feeling you must get from avoiding the silly new road tax by a matter of months as well!

+1 F*ck me that is nice ! I feel a complete cock for having spent £20k on a grotty little 1 series when I could have bought a real machine like that.
Ah well...

Wow i've started something here havent I!!!

Carlos……

Basically I brought the 5er because i felt it’s a much better car, TBH there’s too many 3xxCis about, nice motors but I like to be different!

The Supra twin turbo was RR'd at 293.7Bhp, up on the import 280bhp limit, but we all should know that that’s pap anyway. Uks are circa 320 and Imports circa 300 like mine.

Tbh 300bhp isn’t bad for a 19year old, and it wasn’t the cheap Auto version either, it was the balls out 6speed.

Burriana….

¼ mile, nice!!! Says its all for BMW. I am interested mate ill take a look later!
As Fox says its slate green

And Thanks fox I too think it looks great.

Crolandc…

Thanks mate, yeah I wouldn’t mind a derv one tbh nothing wrong with them imo. I know what you mean about he looks, but since joining BMW5 I’ve grown to love the older shapes too!

Neil.D

Thanks for fighting the corner, BUT I hate you……………….. (Bloody nice car mate, not jealous one bit&#8230wink

I got the 5er (which ISNT) an old mans car because I wanted something with a decent turn of speed, something that looks really nice, and something safe and reliable, which is a step up from an L reg import.

Don’t get me wrong I was looking for 330cis before I realised I could get the bigger, better brother!

Small world ay Fox!
