just thought I would share this , had my 335d for over a year now and I had it mapped (stage 3 from shires) when I bought it, always thought the car went very well so got a power run done locally at a rolling road that I know and trust with figures ( saying that ignore the quoted torque figure on the bottom I think the car kicked down a gear at the start of the run hence the big jump up!! )

Impressive figures Jeff. How did they do the run, did they just run it up in "D" or did they hold it in gear manually?

350 from a diesel! The next gen of dervs will probably embarrass an old M3 or even M5!

Hi Jules

they calibrate the revs/speed against the rolling road first, only did one run, just knocked it into sport got it rolling selected 4th slowed it down the nailed it, pretty sure he initially give it too much throttle and it kicked down hence the blip and the huge torque figure at the start but once away it was fine.have to say was suprised with the power run as this rolling road always disapoints customers with low figures (including another car we had on today ) I and most people I know have used them for years and they are very consistant, to be honest from what Ive read I was expecting 320-330,but in saying that my car does have a strong setting installed, Im pretty sure there would be more to come as this car is so clean out the exhaust never seen black smoke n the last year (my 530d E60 on the same rollers was sooty black and they had to open all the doors hehe )

Its more like 525lbs-ft. As said, ignore the spike. Auto's are often awkward to dyno I believe.

Anyway, good power!

What rolling road was this? seems to be such a variation wherever you go!

Very good power if its accurate, awesome power infact with minimal losses too.

I was at a rolling road day last weekend where 5 x 335d ran on the rollers. 4 of them mapped by various companies, all made between 274-285 at the wheels (Dyno operator said the most powerful ones he had seen ever). Calculated 335-345 at the flywheel the losses being somewhat higher than yours.. Did any other 335d run with you that day?

Well done mate, may i ask whats a stage 3 map? never heard of one? who mapped your car?

Carlos

edit, because i just noticed what dyno it was etc

Jamie at Shires did the remap for me,I got his man in Germany to do me a special as it was for my own car , as I said the rolling road doesnt do high bhp figures, Its the first time Ive ever had a car there thats had more bhp than I expected 80% of people leave there p*ssed off (myself included on numerous occasions frown ) dyno losses vary due to drag, tyre pressures are the main thing that causes this, I got a puncture on the way up so had just blown them up to 45psi seconds before the run. the bmw sensors are ste so tyre pressures can drop 15psi before the warning light comes on to alert you (or this is the case on the last 2 Ive owned)

Car absolutley flies theres a couple of threads on here by anti-diesel people that have driven it hehe

Very good, but sounds like it may have kicked down to 3rd for the run, they are not easy to dyno. All the same very impressive figures.

Hi Carlos,

Where was the above dyno day held (SRR)? How did the tuners maps compare? Email me if you like.

Jules.

has anyone else got a graph for a 35d to compare ??? Ive got one for a remapped 535d and it has the same blip that mine has at 2700 rpm but that one is higher at 3200rpm , just wondered if they all have this? could it be something to do with the second turbo coming in confused
