Hi All.

mate of mine has an E60 530d. His turbo failed. Not to worry he thought, I have a 3rd party warranty which specifically includes the turbo. Except they have rejected the claim based on the fact the turbo is siezed... The t's and c's do, on very close inspection mention this.

He plans to fight it - but I wondered if anyone had any understanding of how turbo's tend to fail, whether there is an issue with the 30d engines turbo - and how they tend to fail..

I would have thought that however a turbo fails, siezure is likley to occur any how?

Thoughts?

Those T&Cs sound like they're practically invalidating themselves, got a feeling that seizures are as likely as anything else to happen on turbos.

Or the oil seals go and you end up with oil through the entire intake system.... which may have already happened which lead to overheating and then seizure, unless there was a problem with the oil feed to the turbo which lead to seizure.

Have a look on
