I'm about to fit a Pioneer DEH P65BT head unit into my 2001 E39. I've got the OEM BMW facia adapter and have bought a wiring loom adapter from Halfords. The one they sold me is the Autoleads PC2754
http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=PC2754
However what concerns me is that there appears to be no connectivity for the steering wheel
control buttons. Do I need another additional adapter, or have I lost my steering wheel function?

I considered this, when I bought the unit, and it did say that a hard wired remote could be used. However, it appears on further investigation that said remote is an Pioneer aftermarket accessory. Is some jiggery pokery with a multimeter and and a soldering iron likely to result
in getting my steering wheel audio controls mated to my head unit, or am I likely to be wasting both my time, and the content of a perfectly good fire extinguisher?

Just buy the Pioner steering control adapter lead, and keep the extingisher for another day.

I'm still struggling to find this adapter. Please can someone give me a part number of the adapter they have successfully used to fit a 2001 car?

I've bought the Autoleads PC99-PIO adapter, but that doesn't commect directly to the OEM loom. Bloke at local car audio shop did quite a lot of teeth sucking but couldn't offer any solution.

With the value of the dollar would it not be cheaper to buy direct from the states?
