Are 3.0 manual Z3 gearboxes a bit difficult to engage as a rule ? mine is ! reverse is not easy and 1st 2nd and sometime 3/4/5 struggle, very "notchy".

Wow, what a great response, sweet F/A. So this is what owning a BMW is all about, its true what they say about BMW owners and now sadly, im one of them. If I asked this question on the Supra owners site (of course I wouldn't have to because Supra gearbox's never go wrong) I would have a dozen replies by now because thats the difference between BMW drivers and Supra drivers.

yes

If you want an answer there and then, take it to the BMW dealer and pay for advice. Using a free forum, you wait until someone who knows the answer comes along.

I dont think there is a single Z3 3.0 owner on this particular part of the site, hence the lack of response.

Now do kindly take your Z3 and **** off with it, becuase that sort of attitude is not really one which lends itself to friendship around here smile

This is normal, mine does it occasionaly as do most others I am told. Smoothly engaging reverse is a real knack, fine for me but my girlfeind has a real issue with it.

p.s. your 2nd post reall isn't going to encourage people to post assistance by the way

Depending on your mileage, it may be down to wear!

It's not something I'm aware of as a major issue on Z's and the 3.0's are from 2000 onwards I know of shrug off fairly brutal use.

They do seem to baulk a little into 1st & reverse, but the others should all be pretty sweet.

If you want more model specific info try www.zroadster.net.

Maybe have the gearbox oil changed. It made the World of difference on my old 911.

FYI, everytime I've asked for help, advice or opinions on this part of the forum I've received helpful replies from fellow BMW owners/past owners. Maybe your original post came across as being a little abrupt?... Sorry, but I don't know anything about manual Z3s'. You could try the BMWLand forum for help as well as this one, some useful guys and gals on there.
