Hi guys...

Looking for some advice. I've got my Sueprcharged BMW Z4 for sale at the moment. I've had quite a bit of interest, but people are either coming back with stupid offers, asking to swap if it for their 1.2 VW Polo or most are put off by the distance to travel up to Aberdeen for the viewing.

I am thinking it may be a good idea to take the car to one of those national BMW shows in Aug time. What do you think? Anyone had success with this?

**Price Reduced** - Due to the sale of my Z4 falling through, the buyer hasn't been able to sell his car by the generous deadline we agreed on, therefore the car is back up for sale.

Hi G,

I could have written exactly those words lately too in relation to a car I'm currently selling! I feel your frustration!

I'm highly sceptical that making the effort to make your way all the way to one of the major shows in order to stimulate interest will have any effect.

You have a superb sounding car there and any (genuine) potential buyers already have the resource to find and (more importantly) buy your car at their fingertips via the internet. I don't think Schlepping it all the way down to a show will have the effect of materially increasing the numbers of genuinely interested parties. The people that go to these shows will already visit numerous websites such as this or the BMW Car Club 'site etc.

Unfortunately, I predict that once you do actually sell it and the people who were dragging their feet see that it's 'sold' they'll all come knocking at your door asking if it really IS sold etc...

I've had this several times (even with three of my previous cars ending up abroad!). This went on for months with an ex-Alpina B3 I had!

When the buyer of my previous E30 M3 put it up for sale again he had the same trouble as you initially...people dragging their feet. He sold it to someone in Italy and sent me an e-mail just to let me know. No sooner had I replied saying to him that I bet the above would happen (actually only 20 minutes!) than I received an e-mail from a potential UK buyer saying he'd just missed out on the car and:

"...did I have another like it for sale?"

"Yes of course I do!"...like cars like that just grow on trees! And not like he hadn't had weeks to find and buy the car before someone abroad put their money where their mouth was. What?...The car was up for sale for weeks and you only decided you really wnated to buy it minutes before someone in Italy bought it? rolleyes

I actually don't live too far away from where the major shows are held. Would I bother going? Nope!

Lovely car and good luck with the sale...someone will turn up eventually. If they don't and if you can keep it!

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I guess you're right, I was maybe just hoping to find an impulsive buyer, but a modified car won't tend to attract that type of buyer I guess...

Well I've set a further two month to sell it, then I'll unfortunately have to put the car back to standard and sell the supercharger (or put it into a 330i coupe), hardtop, M Sport seats, clear headlights etc etc.... Really don't want to have to do that though frown

The problem here is that you are asking £18,000 for a £14,000 car just becuase it has modifications. Mods are very personal and rarely add significant value.

I can see your point.. but I've contacted a few of the top BMW tuners in the UK who think it's a fair price, not just one I've picked up randomly. But yes, perhaps I'll end up splitting.. can make around than £20k doing it that way, just seems a waste frown

It probably is a fair price amongst buyers of supercharged Z4's. Of which there are probably single figures in the UK frown

Agreed the market is small.... but it depends on your view point. If you're in the market for a Z4M and want to save £10,000, have a quicker car which is significantly cheaper to run then a supercharged Z4 really makes sense.
