Anyone know of any dealers in the essex/cambs/herts border who are doing any good prices/deals on KDS alignment check/set up at the moment?

Id happily travel around the M25 if there is any deals around there. Not keen on the 400 quoted by my dealer and feel my car is in need of one as tyres are wearing quickly.

I'm inclined to think that sports suspension may wear the inside tyre edges out quicker due by dialling in a bit of negative camber. They should wear similarly on both tyres though.

I can recommend The Alignment Centre in Perivale.
Very professional but maybe a bit far for you.
Its just off Hangar Lane on the A406

Speak to Gerry at PhoenixMotorsport.co.uk. He does a genuine KDS for about £160 I believe. In Camberley, Surrey.

Farrell aka Darjac Racing is based just outside Colchester can do a KDS check. Make sure you never pay more than about £70.

But for that price surely the kit is not as of the same quality and preciseness of a BMW kit?

BMW charge 400 quid. I want a proper job done and dont mind paying 200 ish but not really wanting to waste money.

PMW at Chelmsford have the Hunter kit, which is the same as BMW use..
They have done the alignment on my E92 last year and it cost about £100. £400 is outrageously expensive I think they have seen you comming. Specialist cars at Stevenage are £100 to check and another £100 to adjust making £200 in total.

Carlos - if you want to use BMW to do the KDS, then I believe Stratstone in Old Windsor charge £199 (I think that includes VAT); but please 'phone and check first. As other have said, I think a good Indy will do at least as good a job and for less however.

That site will give you a list of places with the Hunter kit - as good as, if not the same, as the kit BMW have but a fraction of the price. I paid £90.

A KDS is completely different from a normal 4 wheel alignment. I have never seen any other system that loads the car to the correct ride height with weights and centers the rack during the alignment. £400 is way too much but a KDS is the only way to do it properly. Ask what ride height was obtained before the alignment was checked to a non-KDS operator and see the blank look you get.

Alignment centre loaded my car with gallon containers of water. First time ever I;d seen a car loaded during alignment. The guy explained everything that he was doing.
