RE: Hamann Las Vegas Wings

Guys, you're forgetting a very important part of the conversion, it isn't using the M3 engine anymore.
It's an M5 powerplant, and a reinforced rear axle and heavy duty drivetrain to keep the power from shredding the back of the car.
Add to that the reinforcement the frame needed to hang the doors etc and you can see where the extra weight comes in.
As for the cosmetics, you'll either love them or hate them, but I have to say this car was in a showroom full of Ferraris, boosted Z4s, a Z8 and a tricked up SL500, and this car looked better than any of them. It really is magnificent in the metal.
Still couldn't justify spending that much money on it, and nobody else has either, but just as an example of quality engineering it's a wonder to behold. Sometimes you just have to take things, and cars, on their individual merit. And the Hamann M3 conversion remains one of the best and fastest cars point-to-point I have ever driven.
