I'm off for a good ride tomorrow, heading over to rhyder dam then onto aberystwyth hopefully it will at least be dry. Should be a good few miles and a test for the hero blobs on the foot rests

Dave, have you considered the 48 before settling on the 883 Iron?

I prefer the look of the 48 but a bit concerned with all the chrome it may not be a practical enough commuter without having to wash it every week?

Well I have bought the 883 already. I went out and had a fantastic ride on it today a good 150+ miles, the only thing stopping me going further was a cold wind chill and a numb ass ha

What are apehangers like to ride? The position doesn't look that comfortable to be. I've only ever had a go one one Harley, a soft tail classic, and the feet forward arms forward position killed my back quite quickly.

Personally I fancy a slightly different variety of harley

Passed my test on one of those monsters, handles like a pig on marbles. Horrific.

I took an Iron and a VRod Nightrod out the other week, somewhat different from my little Hornet. Nightrod was an absolute monser, too much bike for me in the sense that I just don't need a bike that big. Iron was quite good fun but I felt a bit underwhelmed by it really. I liked it but wasn't sure if I liked it enough to spend well over £7k on it once it's been fiddled with. I do like the look of them though.

The Fourty Eight looks the nuts with that peanut tank - but after about 50 miles riding you've got to start thinking about getting fuel ! What good is that ?

Crisis, all this Harley talk is making me think that I should consider replacing my Yamaha for a Harley. I think a visit to the local dealer may be required.

It's very much what the Americans would call a "barhopper", but I'm sure it would be possible to fit a larger tank (and some mid-mounted footrests, please).
