PH2: Ducati posts record-breaking sales
Relief for Audi, as Ducati seems to be on the up
Unveiled by the company's president Gabriele Del Torchio at the weekend, the numbers mean Ducati has shown significant growth in both sales and revenues this year - something that has certainly been helped by the launch of the 1199 Panigale.
"Despite the shrinking international market (sales of bikes over 500cc are down by 4 per cent YTD) and after 2011 proved to be the best in Ducati's history, we understandably felt optimistic going into 2012, which promises equally significant levels of satisfaction and achievement," says Del Torchio.
"In fact, during May 2012 we achieved an absolute record with motorcycle sales of over 6,500, a 12 per cent growth compared with May 2011. In the US market, sales increased 48 per cent and on Asian markets a staggering 238 per cent.
"Positive signs have also been seen in Europe, where in France, for example, sales increased by 13 per cent."
And the success doesn't stop there; the company has shown significant increases in incoming cash despite the tough economic climate. Revenues are up by 20 per cent so far this year, continuing a trend for Ducati, which has seen revenues grow from 305 million euros in 2006 to 480 million euros in 2011.
The number of employees has also grown from 1,043 in 2006 to 1,193.
Unreliable dukes are days of old.
Aventador
Reventon
Murcialago SV
gallardo Balboni
Unless you're confusing reliable with sensible
Fair enough perhaps re: the Aventador compared with its forbears but the Diablo SV? The Murci 670? Most mere mortals would still have a difficult time with the Murci 670 with the traction turned off even if it IS 4WD
no matter what they've always looked good (although i dont like the custom/chop thing)but at least now they are reliable
pretty sure they'll do well next yr in WSB with the 1199.
will there be a factory team???
Ducati's are going to end up vastly overpriced, desigened to appeal to the majority and underperform at everything but mediocrity, just like the new LambAudis do.
Lambo now means the Audi parts bins, 4wd, boring styling, the cynical upgrade and extras lists,,,,

The difference between Senna and the rest would not be as evident today perhaps????
Money cannot buy skill and talent which is learned and reducing modern cars to suit the limited ability of mediocre drivers is plain wrong. These lazy people should develop their skill instead of the machines focus being diluted to flatter a few show offs.
Thats why the LambAudi cars are as boring as new Ferraris and new electric steered Porsche's, they are vehicles designed to babysit and flatter the wealthy but unskilled drivers who buy them as a way to show the world just how rich and important they are.
Thats not what sports cars were about,,, they were about passion, now they are boring.
My Granny could post a laptime close to that of a racing driver without breaking a sweat, thats a travesty and if you cannot understand that then thats also a shame.

As for the rest of your post, you really are clueless aren't you.
I would be killed dead in a matter of days mind you, but I still want one.

I am not a very good driver and an even poorer bike rider. I have the attention span of a ADHD afflicted teenager and I am clumsy.
Far from being the "standard boring response from non-riders", it is based on honest reality..
So you are no doubt a riding god with the style and touch of Pierre Francisco Chili then are you? Well good for you then...
