bit of advice mate, renewed my Bike insurance with Express insurance at the end of Feb this year. gave them all the info they wanted. paid the money, all good and well.
over 4 months later and last week got a letter asking for a copy of my datatag certificate. OK at the moment of writing this cannot find it.
i phoned them up today to ask why they need this 4 months later and it is due to them doing a audit there end and they should have asked for it back in Feb. Which I was not told or informed of this back in Feb.
I am still looking for any info I have on my datatag/Alphadot I have fitted which was put on back in Spring of last year.
I was also told that if I cannot find the cert they can kindly put me onto someone who can take off this from my insurance and charge me more money.
WTF
4 months later and they want to change the requirements of my insurance because they forgot to ask me for something.
Still looking for my certificate
an where do I stand

Sorry bud, been busy the past few days, I've released the mental with the latest bird and making sure she doesn't take everything when she goes.
Simple answer is that they can request proof of anything you've stated as present at any point during the policy year.
The fact they're being audited is an interesting one . Who are the underwriters of the policy, as an audit can be either just part of BAU, a surprise, or a sign that another underwriter is looking for a reason to limit capacity, or worse pull out completely.

Be proactive with them would be my advice. Interesting story / scenario for you - I bought and insured a van this year. I have 3 years no claims and naturally they requested proof of this, I gave them my previous insurers details along with the policy number, they said they would contact them. 6 weeks later I get a letter saying my policy has been cancelled for failing to provide proof of no claims. Turns out there was an issue with them obtaining the information, and because they had taken down my address incorrectly, none of the letters warning me of impending cancellation got through. The last one (the one informing me of the cancellation) got through only because the post man recognised my name. I had been driving for 3 days with no cover.just a update I did receive another request for the info on my Data tag even thought I have sent it in the post. just ignored it and not heard anything in the last few weeks
Long story short, no news does not equal good news, maybe they did not receive your letter for some reason, I would chase it up just in case.
