Official, unless VR's Facebook page lies. Can't translate it so no details but looks like two years on a yamaha for VR :-)

It will be fantastic to see him on a Yamaha again, and hopefully at the front of the field.

And yet Im somewhat saddened that he couldnt make the Duke work. God help whoever (Cal, Redding?) steps into those shoes to ride an unrideable bike!

Shame, id love to have seen him in WSB but I think his mojo is gone, ill stick my neck out and say he isnt going to come to much with Yamaha now or in 2014, certainly not another world title.

I'm just glad that Lorenzo firmly has the measure of Stoner this year, that way when Rossi starts winning races next year there won't be any valid comments about him only winning because Stoner is no longer there to beat him.

That's a fan page, not VR's official FaceBook page, if my Italian is any good.

ETA: translation of page-info:

This fan page was created by Simon (SiMo) and is managed along with Maria Rita (Mari) .. Valentino remains the only undisputed king of MotoGP! 46 & 58.

Just gotta be patient I guess. It has been said there will be 3 big announcements at or just before Indianapolis (19/8) "some of which will be a surprise" !!

Have you signed-up to Prince Harry's own one too?

Joking aside, I really do hope he goes back to his beloved Yamaha.

Crutchlow has just Tweeted that he keeps getting asked about next year but nothing done yet. "6-7 Factory rides but Passports get a ride"

Guess that means it's down to where manufacturers want to sell bikes or have most support?? (or Dorna influence rolleyes )

I reckon thats true to some extent, but tell that to Spies and Bayliss(?) And a bit of extra consistency on his part wouldnt have done him any harm. Anyway, he could do A LOT worse than that Tech 3. Either that or he'll be the last man in the paddock willing to throw a leg over the Duc.

The more you read about that Duc, the more Stoner's consistently sour face in the Ducati garage was understandable. Not that he's bouncing off the walls these days, mind you. biggrin

Rumours around today (and I'm not on wind up again) that the vacant seat at Ducati is going to Dovi . . Perhaps that's the surprise.

Personally I hope Vale stays at Ducati and makes it work, but I don't believe he will.

If Dovi does go to Ducati, then Rossi must have gone to Yamaha, so where does Cal go . . . I think his tweets are potentially enlightening concerning passports. I think he's potentially running out of preferred options.

He won't get a fcatory Yamaha
Looking potentially less likely at Ducati. Dovi is the better pick, Italian (passport) better results than Cal and experienced to help with development.
Cal will be left with Tech 3, but Herve will have to consider having 2 Brits in a French team with American sponsors.
Gresini is potentially a seat for Cal, but I'd prefer the Yamaha as at least it has shown an ability to finish on the podium as a satellite bike.

How likely a factory backed Gresini Honda ala Simmo for Cal? Just a thought....

I see your reasoning and fear it may be true. What a bloody shame if Cal doesn't get a decent ride next year as he's shown real grit and determination, we only have to see his ride at Silverstone to confirm that. The passport/sponsor thing is true and a real let down for some real talent. Was getting excited about the possibilities of a British rider on a factory bike but doubt we'll ever see it.

What are Ducati supposed to do, Dovi is beating cal week in week out. There's no one more than me wants to see Cal spanking Dovi's arse. I've never been one for getting excited and shouting at the TV untill this year when Cal has looked to be faster than Dovi but not able to make the pass.

Yeah, bloody frustrating isn't it?

Dovi's just too good/Cal's just not good enough on the brakes.

I think you make a valid point about Cal looking faster than Dovi but unable to pass.

Despite the fact I am sure that Dorna like to keep a Brit presence with potential top 5/6 finishes, unless he convinces people that he is consistently able to beat the likes of Dovi then the Italian will always be more marketable to a Factory squad. (especially being Italian !)
