Just to update the thread for those interested in the old scoring system....

If the old system had been in place it would have finished like this

Josh 456
Tommy H. 429
Shane. 415
Laverty M. 307
Tommy B. 239
Alex... 228
Thanks Luna, I wanted to know the final scores and thats them . . .

Shocking isn't it, that Alex Lowes had at one point a real shot at claiming a title when he was actually only at 50% of the score of the real winner under the old scheme . .

I realise people may have made different decision about riding or not etc such as Shakey . . But The win count I think is Shakey, Hill then Brookes isn't it for this year? Completely the reverse of the podium above . . But the same as the eventual championship podium.

I know it doesn't change anything.... But Josh should be the champion, purely down to consistency.... Did you realise he's scored points in every single round.smile...... Not 1 non finish for the whole season, and lets be honest, there have been some very very tricky conditions this season, with such bad weather....

His worst finish was a 10th place.......... Every other race he's scored double figures....smile

Hmmm.
So "end of FULL season" results calculated on old scoring still didn't leave him at the top then biggrin:

No but Shakey would have won last year on the old system, although Shakey said it was a lot of pressure ref the showdown he was able to sit and rest his shoulder whilst he knew he was safe in the showdown.

Recalculating using the old system is no different from making up a system that gives you more points for being called Josh Brookes!

They were all riding under the new system, end of.

To take anything away from Shakey's result is mean spirited in the extreme is evidence of a failure to understand the immenseness of going for the win in race 3. The main beneficiary of which was us, the viewing public. Shakey only needed to come 14th!

Still not quite the best prediction of the season. That Castrol Craig was harping on about how Spies would dominate on a 1,000cc. Ooooops.

I know it's world supers, but apparently Guintoli has seen sense and backed out of the Crescent Suzuki deal. Does this mean Max is to retire then???????

Massively. Interestingly so has his sparring partner Wilson. From what I gather that is mostly down to bike development amongst the rest of the field in Supersport. Still seems odd he could struggle so much after being so dominant one year before on the same bike.

Haga hasn't shown much of the old magic either.

I was there that day to see Llewelyn win. Was a great race as they all were in those days.

Amazing to think of walker and Rutter still in bsb all these years later.

To be honest....... Although I like watching the BSB, I don't have that much intest in the Showdown, as its completely unessessary and false.....

My interest yesterday lay in the Supersports...... The tension and atmosphere in the air was unbelievable...after skippy took the win on Saturdayhehe the tension was off the scale.... Brilliant.....one drama after another...

There was less spectators there those days would you say?

Same here, I've lost interest after the end of the normal season . . . Supersport didn't even need a handbag fight or golden goal to take it to the last round . ..

Well that's exactly what I do.....to me the racing is over when it comes to the showdown......

Starting again from 500 points, means that anyone out of the top 6 has lost all hope, so why bother putting it on the line??

And anyone in the top 6 has a couple of bad results, like Hill, and its putty much game over.....

It ain't going to change, and it is what it is, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it.....smile

Struggling to see what the moaning about the showdown is all about? The racing was fantastic.

Race 3 was nail biting to the end and Brookes was in contention until the very last lap. If Lowes had a better race 1, then he'd have been right in it too.

Anything can happen with bike racing and usually does (eg Lowes and Laverty). The only rider who could've (perhaps should've?) coasted was Shakey and he went balls-out for the win.

Laverty must be thinking he's jinxed/is a jinx.
He was in an almost identical incident with Byrne at Donington at the end of last year.
Though you could argue he was on the inside line there & therefore his fault that time.
As has been said, that's racing.
