I thought you wanted to get into IT security? When did that change into I want to be a professional bike racer? Bit of a different end of the work place spectrum.
I say go for it, all I ask is that you share the plan to get from 50cc to actually getting on the grid. Not taking the p*ss, there are a lot of factors to get through and think it will be worth getting input.
Think timelines/plan, as you go through each key phase what do you need to make it happen and therefore you can make sure the finances are in place, training, support, licences etc.
All the information is there for the grabbing on the tinterweb so bit of bedtime reading, finish the coco and then put the plan together.

For those that are interested, he has been given a number of options to follow. All of them will involve him getting off his arse and making some phone calls. All of them are do-able and not high budget. I am more than happy to give the lad as much advice as I can to cut through a lot of the crap. The rest is down to him.
