The best thing about the whole day was that there was so much mutual respect among everyone.
And that to me is what being a petrol head is all about.
Here here, bit of a shame forums never seem to work the same as actual events.

Trouble is that early 'busas speedos were madly optimistic. 170 was 200 indicated... Blackbirds the same. The owners genuinely think they've been over the double ton when the difference between 170 and 215 is MASSIVE!
Not so I'm afraid. Your average early 'busa on standard gearing will show 200mph on the clock at around 186-188mph true speed. There's a variation due to different tyre circumferences but that's about it. It will JUST pip 200mph true speed at one tooth up on the front (18/40 gearing) when the conditions are favourable.

Ironically it would be easier to crack 200 on the road than on the runway as you can go in search of an incline.

I completely agree - My post was genuine I would like to share a track with a car - Think it would be great fun.

The You Tube clips with Tiff and Haslam plus the Ferrari 455 and 1198 were really truthful and well made.

As I posted earlier a bike and car trip down to South of France next year using the N85 - Book hotels along the route and enjoy the experience.

But someone immediately jumped on me with the whole cars are quicker issue and I'm talking rubbish......

I have seen quite a few thanks , now imagine a car out there pissing past them, because that's what will happen.

I admire your loyalty to the bikes , but please , don't be blinded by it.
Have a butch at this bud - May make you realise what sort of thing a bike can do with the right rider.

Thanks, I know what a bike can do with a decent rider,

but against a super car it will still be left wanting. Not sure what I was supposed to see from that vid ?

The 458 is a supercar, and it got destroyed, by a bike, thats what I saw from the vid.
It's ok to admit you are wrong now and again.

As mentioned before, some cars will beat some bikes in certain situations, but under different conditions the same bikes will beat the cars.

But the event here was a mile, not a 1/4 mile.

Great vid though wasn't it.

I think Mr Busa you may be blinded, I admire both cars and bikes but know I'm far quicker on my bike.

I may be , in your myopic world wink

I would think the GTR's that both Phil and Ian witnessed first hand would present more than a handful, for a starter.

Enjoy your weekend guys , don't get upset that I don't share your views beerwavey

I agree with you,I have both and know point to point Im quicker in my car, borne out by the fact that over the last 10 years or so (when road conditions allow) I have tusseled with many bikes over the same stretch of country lanes, whilst difficult to pass them I have had to lift off again and again around some of the hilly negative camper stretches and twisty bends, heavily outbraking them.
If I start off infront there is a significant gap by the time we get to the end of the 5 or so mile route, the bike however is such an adrenaline rush ,though its easy to feel invincible, both in terms of health and speed. Something I now have grown out of.
G
eta typos and terrible punctuation.

My Hayabusa hit an indicated 205 at Brunters which was a true 189 according to the timing beams. Saw an indicated 217on a longer stretch of road. Bike was standard but had Yoshi RS3 cans

To be fair Gary (and as nice as those Duc's were back in the day) I suggest you haven't yet met a good rider on a good recent superbike who know's the road as well as you.

Not that it matters too much...
