It's got to be a modern 1000cc ... and something with launch / anti-wheelie control / etc. as launching a modern 1000cc very fast is actually very hard to do.
Not with a V-Rod, the wheelbase of a tractor, powered by Porche and 260mm sucking the tarmac ...Can ps off many a sport bike from the lights.

The VRod is a cracking motor especialy the Destroyer I've run one over a quarter mile in 9.5 seconds @ 152mph.Can ps off many a sport bike from the lights.
With regard to playing with cars, I would be up for upsetting a few on my Suzuki Hayabusa, dependent on the venue and the date, it will reach over 200mph so should be ok.

i dropped mine a couple of teeth on the front and its livened it up a bit too

Where are Loon, Chibbard and BN with the HP4's?? Surely with the launch control function the only car that has a chance 0-150 would be a Veyron?
I'm still running the HP4 in so that's out. One of the S1000RRs would do just as good a job. Thing is I'm not interested in going flat out in a straight line. No real skill needed to do that. LoonR1 said:

Sorry to say. loon ,but you are very mistaken with that view ,when it comes to getting the last 10mph Out of a bike , you need to know what is required .I have seen many a guy turn up at Elvington / Woodbridge and struggle to beat 170 .
As for the v rod talk, the car guys will be laughing their sphericals off .

Fair enough, my bike not quick enough sadly, but mate has a RSV4 and Panigale S i could pinch if we didnt live at the wrong end of the country.A private drag race away from the Barry boys you get at most drag strips against 1000hp cars would be great fun, or against such exotica as enzo's, zonda's etc

Tuck in and hope for the best, that's it. If you're fat then it'll be harder than a super skinny Marquez type. Still not a lot of skill in going fast in a straight line, even less in a car.I have seen many a guy turn up at Elvington / Woodbridge and struggle to beat 170 .

A4B,you should contact the Trev at straightliners, they have vast experience at running these events which are now almost monthly.
You my be able to get the cars running at their excellently run, timed and sanctioned events.
Be warned though , some guys are running in excess of 230 in the standing mile..

Agree with the easier in a car , but you have a shock coming

Why have I got a shock coming? I've no intention of riding my bike flat out in a straight line. I prefer to do trackdays, where one second I'm going as fast as I can, then hard on the brakes for the next corner, carry as much corner speed as I can, then back on the power as quickly as possible.Guy on one of the forums has his Beemer running 8.7 , unopened motor too
I have zero interest in drag racing of any form.

Same here , but I have seen many a folk go away disapointed with their top speeds after turning up thinking it was easy .I have zero interest in drag racing of any form.
As for the 1/4 mile stats, I thought you may have been interested to see what can be done with the beemers , sorry to have taken your time .

The thing with top speeds is they're like bhp figures, all overstated to some extent. I've no doubt that my bike is limited to 186mph with a 7 stone dwarf on it; a 14 stone fatty like me will make a lot of difference to that no matter how much I scrunch up.As for the 1/4 mile stats, I thought you may have been interested to see what can be done with the beemers , sorry to have taken your time .
The 1/4 mile figure is what it is, I geuinely get a bigger thrill braking hard for a corner and hitting the apex (or at least trying to) then opening the throttle, than I would on a wide open airstrip.
I'm no precious about this, but cars confuse me even more on an airstrip. I've run fast cars for decades and the only skill in a straight line there is pressing the accelerator pedal to the floor and holding it there. Hell, my car even does everything for me when I use the launch control, it just goes and changes gear as well. All I have to do is have a lead foot.
Same on the brakes!
