Manx Norton 500, like the one my old man had, how I wish he'd never sold it.

No, a manx Norton was a single cylinder 350/500cc machine with the world famous "featherbed" frame...

A Norvil Norton is made even now by the "Norvil" motorcycle company, (who claim to have bought the rights to the name, but this is disputed) in Cannock, Staffordshire (I think), which utilises the 750/850cc twin cylinder Commando engine.....

Norvil stands for Norton/Villiers btw....

Details in any monthly "Classic Bike" mag....

Can't comment on the film, because I haven't seen it.........

Best usable British bike is the Norton Commando, do some initial mods and it becomes a reliable everyday user bike.......I'm biased I have 3!!
However I've also had BSA's and Triumphs and they cannot match up to the Norton on hassle free mileage.

i was wondering if the brit army still those BSA mbikes they bought in the 1980's, or did CCM replace all with theirs or just compliment the army fleet with bmx models.
