I have a plain looking open faced thingy if I'm just going into town. Much better viability, less stuffy and cooler in the summer and fine up to 50 mph.

Having been bugged in the face at high speed I have a full face if going for any sort of serious ride.

Try touring europe in one, those Italian tunnels are filthy. I was getting off the bike at the end of the day & my ginger beard was black!

Softies! I learned to ride up in Shetland back in the seventies (Honda CB 250) and always wore an open helmet. Yes, it was cold, but also exhilarating! A few years later, as a young teacher, I bought another bike on the grounds that a bike cost less to run than a second car having acquired wife and family in the interim and Sir's Triumph Daytona was a familiar sight for many years, rain or shine and again open face helmet! Just be careful and try not to fall off and beware of idiots on loose chippings!
