A picture a day....biker banter (Vol 3)
Discussion
Nipped out to test my new summer gloves (Alpine Stars GP Plus - they seem very good for £100, they replaced my Racer Sicuros that I stupidly raved about on here a month ago and promptly wore a hole in...).
Found myself taking one of these out for an hour.
Incredible bike, full throttle in second to the redline, then third and fourth gave acceleration not quite like anything else I've ridden. Proper shortening-of-the-road power, but even in Dynamic mode the front would only lift slightly, meaning all the 160-odd horsepower would punt you along.
For all its speed and confidence-inspiring handling, I'd still have a Tuono V4 and keep my Blackbird. Shockingly, my Blackbird felt like an equally new bike to ride once I got off the S1000R. Near enough as quick, just as fun to hustle. Stupid good all-round Blackbird. Tuono sounds nicer, has a nicer gear shift and is more... of an event. I know that sounds like the predictable result of putting an Italian V4 against a German I4, but there you go.

I'm off out to take an advert pic of my RSV when I get some time.
I honestly don't give a st though. I'm lucky enough to be able to keep it if I wanted - but I just never feel like riding any more and I think bikes should be owned to be used.
How come you're getting rid?
I want to start racing enduros but can't afford to have both bikes. I was getting rid next summer but I'm not using it so seems stupid to wait. Shame but hopefully a ktm will make me happier ! Went out on my MV yesterday with Spareparts [K1300S HP]and his son for a bimble. First to On Yer Bike where I bought yet more gloves and then on to our favourite breakfast location alongside the upper reaches of The Thames at Benson. We then rounded it off with a visit to a KTM dealer in Oxfordshire.
Had a good run out on the Venom today. Yesterday was a write off as the kickstart return spring snapped. We bump started it (which nearly killed me in full bike gear in 28 degrees!) but I had to limp home holding it up with my foot. Robbed one off the old man's Velo to ride it today.
He took the Enfield sidecar outfit and is currently awaiting recovery as a head has snapped off a valve. Was going to take him a spare to get him going again but the RAC said they could be there in an hour so that'll be quicker.
Anyway, a picture:

Just to add to the above, the old man's home now. 2.5 hours on the side of a main road in the boiling heat and not one motorcyclist stopped to see if he was ok or needed any help. It was a main road to the north norfolk coast, so literally hundreds of bikes went past he said.
Two cars stopped to see if he needed anything, water etc as it was so hot but not one of the bikes did.
How times have changed

What a shame Two cars stopped to see if he needed anything, water etc as it was so hot but not one of the bikes did.

I didn't see him on my travels up there, else I'd have stopped.
