CBR600 advice if you have a minute...

I've found a bike I quite fancy. It's my first bike so thought I'd avoid anything too pricey.
Anyway, 1996 CBR600. It's at a dealer but is 'sold as seen' with no warranty. This is due to the high mileage, 38000, and it's priced accordingly, i.e. very competetive with the private prices.
It has a couple of scratches but consistant with low speed topples rather than down the road type falls.
It has a Full Service History, it literally has been serviced every time, on time, without fail. Starts first time, no smoke, no rust, HPI clear etc.
Is there anything else I should look for as it seems like it is too good a deal. Or should I just go for it.
I will have a closer look at it tomorrow sometime and could do with a little advice on what to look for??

To be honest I wouldn't know good from bad on a test ride. I done my test on an 8 year old Bandit with 60k miles so anything would probably feel better than that.
I've been searching for a buyers guide or pointers but can't find very much at the moment despite how many cbr's are out there.
It did sound very smooth and sweet when it was running in the dealers.

If it's been looked after reet.Mileage shouldn't be an issue,I have heard of blades doing 110.000+,& still going strong.Old Guzzi's go on indefinitely,mines 24 years old,& still capable of 130+.The Italians call them Quarter million mile engines,cos thats what they will do!

It still goes well, as well as it did when i got it last year with 10k on .
RIDE did a job on a 50000 mile CBR that hadnt been service ever, or simular.
No issues. The engine tolerences were all spot on, and the dyno showed no massive power loss.
Get it, its a CBR, so if its cruddy, sell it to a dealer in London, they always seem to buy knackered old bikes ?

As I'm new to the 2 wheel bug I can't draw on years of experience on them.
But I have heard that Hondas' are in engine terms 'over-engineered', which is a comforting thought if its true.
If you really like it and there are'nt any bad rattles anywhere, clutch/gear changes are ok, then negotiate a price with the mileage and no warranty as a major bidding point.
Great time to buy a bike, as shops are desparately trying to shift stock before winter REALLY gets here.

As reliable as a TVR? Are you joking? Even the best TVR will not be as reliable as a Honda bike - even an older, high mileage job like yours! And I'm not having a go at TVRs cos I'm a big fan and had a few of them, as well as bikes, and hondas in particular seem bulletproof. Nice Cerbie in your profile - did you keep it?

I bought my CBR600FX about a month ago. 1999 ally frame with 30K on the clock its up for a service now, but runs like a dream. And i havn't had any (touchwood) problems with it. Starts first time everytime even in this cold weather and onced warmed up will keep up with the best of them. Enjoy the bike

The cerb has been tremendous in the reliability stakes. Little niggles but not much that's put me off the road.
To be honest, if the CBR is half as reliable as the cerb then I'll be happy
And I did keep the cerb, the two of them are jostling for space in the garage just now
