In a car straightening out the road is part of the skill and of which many drivers of mildly hot cars don't do. Even in my diesel Merc I've done people in more road focused cars because they've not taken the shortest route.
On a bike it's different. If if you can straight-line it you won't. It's much lore fun throwing the bike over and exiting on full throttle!
Can't see any skill on being a straight line hero, especially when you are endangering the lives of other people. Most people head for twisty roads for the the thrill of going around a bend on a bike or in car.On a bike it's different. If if you can straight-line it you won't. It's much lore fun throwing the bike over and exiting on full throttle!
Endangering lives?
Obviously you're not going to straight-line it when there's a car coming much the same as you wouldn't go for an overtake for the same reason.
Do you read the Daily Mail by any chance?
Do you want to know the price if my house?

Had a ride up hartside today a bit later than usual. Knac**ers on bikes and a few idiots in performance jap cars cutting corners. To me the whole point of this road is the bends so why not go around them instead of straightening them. Anyone can go fast in a straight line. Wan**rs

Nothing heroic about it. It's just the best way of making progress in a car.

People I came across today were endangering my life were you there?
I come from the northeast do you think I read the daily mail?
I come from the northeast your house is probably worth considerably more than mine.

Its always ben like that up there though hasn't it, I can remember seeing at head-on happen between 2 bikes in the early 1990's.I have been up there with twizellb and his brother the odd time and seen the aftermath of bikes having head-ons and also being stopped by the Police while they loaded the dead into Ambulances and near dead into helicopters.
I think it is a lot safer these days than it used to be mainly because I never go up there nowadays unless its with slow coaches like Jazoli.

I went up to Hartside on Friday with my uncle, it was my first time riding with him and also first time riding those roads.
He will have been taking it easy but he still got away from me around there, I had no desire to stick the bike into the scenery. Really enjoyed it though, and most other riders seemed to be taking it reasonably steady.
Love the road back from Hexham to Castleside too, couldn't resist riding that again the past two days.

Sorry my phone has been playing up. It's true what you say. Unfortunately yesterday we got up there at lunchtime. Years ago I decided to get there early to miss the carnage, the roads are also a lot clearer. Watch out for a black unmarked 5 series. As long as you enjoy it Jazoli don't give it up. Life is not a dress rehearsal;)
