Who are some decent helmet manufacturers?
Discussion
I have a design idea which relates to bike (or any type of racing) helmets.
I'm looking for companies to possibly approach with this idea. I've tried Arai who outright ignored me. I know very little about the industry, and the idea is in it's very early stages, but any info on manufacturers would be appreciated

Although not particularly well know this side of the pond, Icon might be worth contacting. They like to experiment with design and are a pretty open minded company based in Oregon.

while i dont want to know what your idea is.
is it a helmet improvement,a racing improvement,a motorcycling add on or a helmet safety idea?
please dont say its a HUD because nobody wants that, people have been pushing them for years and its not wanted or needed.
if its a helmet safety device it may be that its not workable on a bike as it is in a car.
no details is really the best way to get no good answers.

Ha, it's a safety design element of the helmet. I'm obviously not going to say too much, but it will apply to all styles of full face helmets.is it a helmet improvement,a racing improvement,a motorcycling add on or a helmet safety idea?

Patent first or lose your idea.
The moment you walk out of a meeting there is nothing to stop a company from doing just that, stuffing you without a thought.
Not cheap to do though.
Best of luck.
Yeah, that's what worries me. It just seems like a lot of expense, for maybe someone to turn round and go "Nope, we don't like that idea". Then it's all time and money wasted The moment you walk out of a meeting there is nothing to stop a company from doing just that, stuffing you without a thought.

I have nearly 20 patents to my name. It does not need to be that expensive in the early stages. In fact it only costs £100 to file a UK patent application, and that gives you protection for your invention from the day you file it IF you then continue through the process to get a fully granted patent - which can take years and a good chunk of cash.
My advice would be to first search the patent data bases to see if the idea is already patented. Unfortunately most good ideas have been had before and protected via patents. Many companies patent inventions that they have no real desire to commercialise simply to stop anyone else doing it.

lots of other search databases out there too. It is a very complicated field unfortunately.
Start by typing crash helmet in to the search page and you will get a feel for what may be out there. More specific search terms will yield more targeted results.

Enjoy!!

I found my idea on there already (or as similar to it as you're going to get).
