if you are going to lacquer it spend some time rubbing it down beforehand with 400/600/800 grade wet and dry, it will make a massive difference to the finish and is something you can do indoors.Jazoli said:

The flatter the paint the better the look will be when its done.
Just depends on how good you want it to look.
