Exactly my thoughts watching the podium ceremony. What a great scene - arguably the 3 greatest current riders other than the new upstart, with the Italian anthem playing (for once!) and VR on the top spot. It was a moment to savour for so many reasons.
Well said - Great for the sport.dmitsi said:
What a legend he is, getting over the sic crash is probably one of the toughest hurdles he's had to clear. There's no doubt that marquez is something extraordinary but the reality is that rossi in his twilight can still push him. Watching him race now is like 80% of what he used to be capable of and he can still do it. It'll take a long time for someone to get up to his level, marquez could but it'll take a long time before I'm convinced.
I think we all now expect marquez to win yet we hope rossi will get one over him every now and then.Great result for MotoGP, as he has proven again he is the darling of the sport, those scenes of pure adulation would have occurred wherever in the world he may have won, as someone said, he is a marketing mans wet dream, but he made that win, it wasnt handed to him, MM93 tried a couple fo times to pass, and Rossi stuck it straight back at him, kept him behind him and beleived he could have won even if MM93 had not fallen.
Was a joy to see, was a shame MM93 did drop it as was looking forward to the inevitable bust up that was about to ensue that may have seen JL bridge the gap to a 3 way fight ....
Now its onto the next one, MM93 is no longer infallible / unbeatable and that will stoke the rest of the grid, MM93 is still an awesome racer but he isn't getting it all his own way at the minute, will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Couldn't watch it live as I was working, so I watched the repeat this morning. The highlights were a bit rubbish as they cut short the celebrations.
I've been watching MotoGP since since 2002 and I have to admit that I got a bit emotional watching Rossi cross the line.
Like others I said that he wouldn't win another race whilst Lorenzo and Marquez were still on the grid. It just proves that you shouldn't write him off. 35 and hes still one of the best riders out there. I don't think he will retire at the end of 2016. I suspect he will go to WSB and clean up

I hope the gradual reduction in thread lengths for GPs is not indicative of folk losing interest and I hope this keeps peole interested. I'm really looking forward to 2015, but unless MM has a few more DNFs this season is still done.
I think BT sport is the reason It's a fkin nightmare
I'm in turkey at the mo and even though we had wifi and a btsport login it still wouldn't work as not in the uk
We have bt internet so have the channels but would be thoroughly pissed off if we had to pay extra for it.
Doing things like this just decreases exposure massively. Great big fking own goal to the sport.

I'm impressed with the effort that BT Sport has put into it, but otherwise it makes no sense from the sport's point of view; Eurosports coverage was faultless, free (although I understand that it was packaged with pay channels) and got a lot of exposure for teams and sponsors. Totally daft, although they could argue that the UK audience base was so small to start with that taking BTs shilling made better sense. It's a fkin nightmare

Someone on BB said they reckoned BT would drop it at the end of their contracted period. What next? Back to Eurosport?
Awesome awesome race, well it wasn't the most exciting once the battle had ended but you just didn't know if Lorenzo was going to charge towards the end or if Rossi would drop off the pace.
I did predict that MM would crash as I thought he would be pushing really hard to get to the front being stuck on the second row and it happened, Vale showed a masterclass in his dominance and what made him the GOAT forcing past JL and MM and ultimately MM pushing too hard and crashing.
The scenes in the paddock on the podium, the track invasion just showed just how influential Vale is.
There's life in the old dog yet as they say and maybe now that lightbulb moment, that confidence knowing he can beat MM, JL, DP will mean he'll be able to get more wins, I certainly hope so.
The last 5 races will be amazing to see how this 3-4 way battle goes.

Also I really like Neil Hodgson but why didn't get an interview with Rossi and co before the race - Suzi Perry etc always did......Just a comment
Wow, when did you last watch MotoGP ?BT Sport just aren't a big player from a media perspective and every media outlet will have wanted a piece of Rossi, check out the link below for the global list of broadcasters, I suspect BT are one of the lowest exposure ones ...

and more professional than EuroSport's coverage.
Not sure what you're watching but for me, as per my comments on this subject after the previous race, the two goons they have doing the race commentary are about as interested, informed, alert and knowledgable as, say, Alex Salmond would be if he were commenting on Madagascan centipede breeding.
