What Would Tempt You Away From Riding - If Anything ?

My other passion in life is paragliding. On a day that is suitable for flying, I choose this over riding normally.
I feel similar emotions doing both - the excitement and thrill, albeit only a small amount of the time. Most of the time it's the feeling of freedom and adventure that do it for me. Both can be a 'buzz', both can be relaxing too.

Flying my own plane, if I had the money is about the only thing I can think of that could tempt me off bikes. It'd have to be a proper plane too, lottery win & a Spitfire/Mosquito etc, not a Cessna.
Hooli has nailed it, a plane is the only thing that could get me to retire the bike .. Not sure about it having to be a Mosquito though
Not sure there is a substitute as it is a totally different experience from anything else. I have and enjoy fast cars but as others have said struggle to be able to use them - However, I'm nowhere near good enough a rider to be able to replicate the thrill of punting my Caterham down a deserted back road.
I'm riding every day and commuting, still enjoying it but I'm sure less traffic, much better weather, daylight and fewer winter riding niggles (my dipped headlight failed last night which was pretty scary for example) / gear will make it far more fun. I know you can dispense with traffic but I still find the hazard aspect a little stressful at times. Also getting dressed up and down in all the winter gear is a chore.

You are right I didnt choose a car, reality is I would choose 2 vehicles if I had to give up biking, but the cost of both would still be less than the cost of a Ferrai. First would be a Caterham wide body with lots of HP, the other would be a T5 long wheel base VW fully loaded including tow bar and car trailer. I do over 20,000 miles a year and would say a performance car on the road with over 200BHP is pretty much pointless most of the time and most are not that great on track without major modifications. Instead the above combination could be used to eat the miles at sensible pace in comfort whilst touring race tracks doing track days.

There's nothing that would tempt me away from riding. Cars don't come close and while a "proper" plane may have some attractions for sunny Sunday afternoons, getting it out of the hanger and off the ground makes the faff of getting your bike gear on look quick and easy. Add to that the difficulties of finding a parking space for a Spitfire in central London when commuting or the fact that packing luggage for a euro tour is even more hassle than on the bike and it stops being an option.
Also, while some of the ladies mentioned would be an extremely interesting proposition, I can ride my bike hard and fast for a quick blast before breakfast, a longer stint before lunch, a slow relaxing session after lunch and another quickie in the evening but still be ready to do the same again tomorrow, the day after and the day after that without the bike uttering a word of compliant!

Caterham racing is one hell of a buzz, but too expensive and not frequent enough to substitute the thrill of riding a powerful bike.
If someone sponsored me £100k pa to go racing every weekend i might not bother with a bike as a toy, though a bike can't still be beaten for getting to/from work on time so i'd always have a commuter in the garage.
