Our guy in India.
Discussion
Guy Martin appears to do a lot of things that he enjoys and does many of them very well -turning his hand to various things.
He's a great rider and I've really enjoyed most of the TV programmes that he's done, and the biography was a much better read than I had expected.
Yes, he is a character, which is why the TV people picked up on him.
Good luck to him.

If I was a lorry mechanic with no discernible talent except for being not quite good enough to win a TT, and say strange things. I'd take whatever was thrown at me.
There are more races than the TT, he has won many a race that I get scared even reading about. By eck he has, by eck. I think a significant percentage of the population (especially blokes) are autistic or have aspergers. Perfectionists, obsessives and collectors are often mildly autistic. I'd be surprised if Guy Martin was to be honest, as he displays nearly all the traits of someone with ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
I think Guy Martin is a very very talented road rider. He has been racing against people like John McGuinness (at the height of his success) and Michael Dunlop who are both big bike specialists for most of his career. He does tend to tail off on the TT, starts off quick, then loses time, this could conceivably be down to lack of concentration.
He has won the Ulster GP 11 times though, and that is no mean achievement.
Back on topic. I really enjoyed this show, it was cheerful and uncynical without being naïve about India's social problems. I enjoyed the race at the end, it looked like good old fashioned fun. I tend to regard Martin as the modern Fred Dibnah but with mor motorbikes

I think his mild aspergers/autism
Do you have a source for that? I have suspected it and I know a kid who would be so pleased to hear that. He is on the spectrum, loves bikes and cars and loves Guy Martin.Edited by SteveSteveson on Thursday 29th January 22:20
I enjoyed the book.

I like him and his program's are better than 98% of the rubbish that's on TV at the moment.
I second that, certainly Top Gear has gone downhill year on year and I do look forward the next daft Guy Martin adventureI reckon they should partner Guy Martin with Will.I.Am on a motoring show, and do both cars and bikes, it could be pretty surreal

The mini series was a pleasant way to waste a Sunday.
I warm to him the more I see him on tele.
He just seems a tad eccentric and daft.
However, for the love of fk man, stop saying everything is great.
Just turn around and go, what a fking ste hole.
Maybe... just maybe in his world, st is just GREAT! I mean REALLY GREAT!I warm to him the more I see him on tele.

The guy (I made a pun) enjoys racing the TT, has got his own TV show. Is racing with Rossi around the Ranch and coming up against Marquez in Superprestigio (spl), he has his own spitfire engine! He's been flown around in a Spitfire and had his hands on the controls... He's got BMW for TT.
His world... IS GREAT!
So is mine...

...I can imagine the 2 of them trying to understand each other...it would have to have English subtitles
