Depends what you want really. If you just want to be able to see your lines etc work out where you can improve on the screen works but there's nothing else in the picture to make it feel fast or whatever. I've put a few more mounts for my next track day just to get some different views. I've got one on the swingarm, one on the frame so you can see the throttle/brakes as well as forward then on one the top yoke so you can see the clocks as well.
I'd have to speed the footage up if I wanted it to seem fast! Never got my knee down and not particularly expecting it on my first day either, so that wouldn't be exciting either. Although a camera behind to watch me riding around very stiff would probably be entertaining for everyone biggrin

I think I'll try on the front of my tank for the screen view that I've seen others with.

Semi-serious question. Where's the best place to mount a gopro, and do they need to be secured, if so how?

I know I'll be terrible, and of course very slow. Just thought as I already own the gopro hero3 from my snowboarding holidays it might be nice to have a look at/have a record of my first track day (assuming I don't hate it and become a road rider only biggrin )
I have mine mounted on the rear facing forward

I seem to get a lot of comments about by bum from them I show it to

Ya its bloody annoying. I may go even if the weather is crap and run wets. I need some back time before I head off to Jerez.

I'm on the verge of booking a trackday in March, I have a few days holiday to use up before April.

My only worry is having only just passed my test. I am fully comfortable riding a bike, and used to race pitbike supermotos when I was younger so have experience of being on track. Have I got anything to worry about?

Tracks I'm thinking of are either Rockingham international sportscar, Mallory Park, Donington or Brands Hatch indy. I want to do Cadwell but not as my first trackday as it's a 5.5hr drive up there. Which track will be best suited to a novice?

Rockingham's okay but the banking's a bit odd for a 1st trackday - you could try the National circuit which is a bit more 'normal'. Donington, Brands and Cadwell I would save for later in the year. On that basis - do Mallory. Nice and simple, fast enough to cut your teeth and have some fun.

Oh also Pembrey is an option. My dad did one there a few years ago, said it's an alright little track. Don't want to do castle Coombe as my dad said its all right handers and quite boring, is this true?

Pembrey is in Wales and run by Welsh people

I hear they still point at aeroplanes in Wales.

Out of those, Donington or Brands. Brands indy will be quite intimidating going down paddock hill the first few times but as it's a short track, it's easy to learn.

Just don't worry, stop overthinking it and you'll be grand.

Out of your list I'd do Donny, I cannot wait to go back, it is a fantastic track. I have been to rockingham running a race car and it gives me no interest riding around it.
Mallory I'd like to do but based on nothing at all I would say donnington is probably better.

Brands indy seems like you aren't getting enough track for your money imo.

Realisitically if you don't go balls to the wall then you will be fine on any track, it's only a bit of tarmac after all

Brands Indy is fine if you want to be working all the time. I won't be taking the zx10 there as it will probably be too much hard work for me, however it's a great circuit for the 250/400/600s

I had my first race at Donnington around that date some years ago. There was snow on the track when I woke up, and by the time my first race came around, it hailed marbles

Good luck biggrin

I've booked Oulton park Novice day tomorrow for my first track day. Forecast is 20mph winds and rain, so it'll be a baptism of fire
At least I don't have to ride there as I've hired a bike through Smallboy for the day, so I get a warm drive up at 04:30 tomorrow morning to be there for signing on at 7:30
Quite excited and nervous at the same time

Presumably bikes out in one session, car chaps (with heater and radio 2 on) out in the next.
