A mate has just bought a 1199 with a standard exhaust and intends to book into Snetterton for a trackday. Is the 1199 louder than the 1299 or is it the other way round?
Will it get past grumpy at noise testing?
If it's 102 static test then he might struggle. Best to email MSV and ask the question. The answer I got was if the bike was standard then they're lenient on static and check drive-by as Panigales are known to be borderline/fail on static. At least he'll hopefully get that in writing for any issues. Will it get past grumpy at noise testing?
For reference, my 899 on standard cans blows 105db on the last two noise tests I've had.

I'm sure Pani's were OK as long as the system was standard?
I picked up a SV650 with relatively new PR4 tyres to use as a trackbike last year. Got a day booked at Brands next month. My question: will the tyres be OK? I think I'm worrying about nothing but will they be suitable enough? It's my first TD in about 13 years, and I'm wobbly and crap and my SV has a whoping 70bhp or so.
I've put some more 'track' brake pads in it, as the existing pads were just about adequate for normal road riding as well as a less loud exhaust to pass noise tests, but the tyres are my current concern.

Check the dates on the tyres but I'm pretty sure you'll be fine. Great track bike on tighter tracks too. Loved mine I've put some more 'track' brake pads in it, as the existing pads were just about adequate for normal road riding as well as a less loud exhaust to pass noise tests, but the tyres are my current concern.

Tyres are ~12 months old. Rear has only done about 500 miles or so. Just don't want to experience sliding or something like that on my first try at getting back into track riding. Should the bug bite, they will be replaced for something else later on in the year. cheesewotsit said:

I think that'll be best bet, honestly though you'll be fine on them. Just get the pressures right on the day and take the first lap easy if you have warmers and first 2-3 laps easy if you don't Last year when i picked up my new bike it had a set of power cup evo's that were 4 years old and had only done 500miles, they were fine on the track day but were changed straight after as they bike wasn't very stable once back on bumby B roads.

I've thrashed round on them in inters with no problems on my hornet for several track days. I've put some more 'track' brake pads in it, as the existing pads were just about adequate for normal road riding as well as a less loud exhaust to pass noise tests, but the tyres are my current concern.

Top day at Donington today, despite it being quite windy. i really do not get the big negative reaction to FE, was well run and no incidents all day. A big plus was they actually had the transponders there this time too!
Was also about as close as I could get to going sub 1:40 without going sub 1:40
Anyone else on the FE day there next Thursday?
