Top day at Donington today, despite it being quite windy. i really do not get the big negative reaction to FE, was well run and no incidents all day. A big plus was they actually had the transponders there this time too!
Was also about as close as I could get to going sub 1:40 without going sub 1:40
Anyone else on the FE day there next Thursday?
Well done George, on it there lad.Was also about as close as I could get to going sub 1:40 without going sub 1:40

Hopefully they will let me stay in the paddock then for the Friday then. It's a stupid way to do it when they know there's race meetings on, surely they could have just swapped the Thursday/Friday around.
He is very fast but really shouldn't be racing at club level, I never get why an ex British champion would want to do that? Unless he likes being a big fish in a small pond? Obviously has the talent to be in stock 1000, surely that's the logical step to go to?

No major difference in costs at the top of club level and in BSB support classes for most people. Entry fees are pretty much the same, tyres are discounted. Fuel is more expensive as it's controlled but all in all it's not too dissimilar. George29 said:

They always do that at Donington apparently, as they have long standing car track days on the Friday's
It's the same with NL the week after. I'm doing the track day on the Thursday (4 groups) and then driving home Thursday night before coming back up Friday night for the weekend. I live about 2 hours away, so it's a bit of a faff, but saves twiddling my thumbs all day Friday with nothing to do and at least coming back Friday means I can bring my 10year with me for the weekend as he's mad for racing.
Josh Day, who's back racing with NG this year, will most likely top the podium there as he's won every race he's started with NG this year I think. He does blimmin 1:31's around there too !

With Josh, it's purely financial.
Racing at a higher level is expensive, even at TSGB Elite level, so doing a year with NGRRC was affordable. He's got a normal job and a young son, so doing any meaningful type of racing to suit his level is just out of his price range. I've seen the amount of costs that he racks up when racing up the levels, and it's just not the sort of thing anyone with a normal job could do without a really good team backing. But then, the teams nowadays are looking for riders to pay their way, and whilst there's people out that will pay, they're going to bring them in as riders rather than subsidising someone, no matter how good they are
It's a shame as he's a real talent on a bike, and a good lad too

For those far more knowledgeable than myself - can you cast an eye on my rear tyre and tell me if all looks well? This was my first track day for years and at Bedford in the Novice group. Pressures were set to 26 hot iirc (pirellis recommendations etc).
No issues there dude. Pressures are about right. Birky_41 said:

Cheers chaps - hopefully it will continue that way! I may be booking a day at Rockingham at the end of the month and another visit to Bedford in June! As a novice - how many days should I expect to get out of a set of tyres? These were about 300-500 miles old at the time of the trackday.

They look spot on to meYou can run Supercorsas way down past the wear markers. This is my mates from Donington the other day for example, and he was still going faster than me on it!
