Vaguely looking again. After the failed attempts at upgrading the ancient R1 over the last 10 years (two Fireblades, CBR600 and the two ex TT missiles GSXR1000K8 and 08 R1) I might be up for attempt no.6!

Had an outing on Fleegle's ZX10 at Aragon a few years back (he was busy destroying Mitzy's 600) and I thought it was a lovely thing. There can't be much of that thing left now though!

Wouldn't be until end of season / after Estoril for me.

Are you on Estoril?? Welcome to try mine, probably far too stiffly sprung for you but I have softer springs in the garage for you

Yup - out for Estoril. Springs will be fine for a try out, I'm fatter than I look!

Excellent.

I had a shot of a new BMW and R1 today at Croft. I'm definitely changing for next year. Loved them both. Now, decisions decisions.

Just got off the phone with Paul, he said you'd had a go of his R1

I did. It was outstanding. He said take it out for 10 minutes in inters. I ended up doing 20 as I was having so much fun. Loved it. Asked him how much he wanted for it, he just smiled. Gave him £20 petrol money then felt bad that I probably used about £40 worth of tyres biggrin Sorry Paul

Estoril you say .....
nipped up there this afternoon for a quick look ... track looks fantastic - design wise, infrastructure looks barren and jaded but should be a good trip , 31C all afty , not very far from Cabo da Roca the Westernmost point of mainland Europe ,
stunning greeny blue water with a stiff Atlantic breeze off it ...
worth a visit - enjoy boys n girls ..
Ps in depth review of the Kym 125 frame, brakes , suspension, power delivery to follow ....
sublime !
smile

Anyone else at Rockingham yesterday?

I was in fast group. Don't think we had one red flag. Inters though, well, their first 2/3 sessions they must have had 6 red flags. Poor guys just kept falling off.

Was a pretty quiet day actually. Fast group had maybe 15/20 people. Inters and Novice were fairly normal.

The weather was pretty much perfect. Cloudy in the afternoon, but dry all day. Track had plenty of grip.

All in all, I had the best track day of my relatively short track career.

Went to my local Triumph dealer to blag a ride on a 675R to see if I want one for a road/track bike. Didn't know they stopped making Daytonas last year!

Missed this one already too.

Manged to get a space for Jerez next month with no limits in inters.

It's a chrono trip so I'll have to get my finger out and make sure I don't get moved down to novice

There's plenty of big drinkers going so it'll be messy

I went to Croft, I met Gareth and Mckean.

My bike wouldn't start, thankfully the mechanic diagnosed it as a failing quick shifter.

It was a dry first day, It was nice, very bumpy but I thought my bike was broken, I poodled around trying to get used to riding in the dry. I missed as many apexes as I could due to stting it over the bumps or gypsies tarmac repairs.

Boy I met there came off, broke his back in three places and pelvis in two.

I walked the track, fk me I wish I never, the surface is shocking.

It rained, I was happy very happy, then it dried, rained, spat, sun, rain, dry, spat, rain, dry. I got fked off, went home.

The curse of MTB is real, but its not infallible. I managed to get great weather last week at croft, but i booked that not knowing that Alex was going. Thankfully i was only there on the sunny thursday, as friday was st weather as per the normal curse of MTB

I was more surprised by the pictures of MTB on a dry piece of tarmac rather than the fact it did end up raining.
