There’s quite a bit that I want sorting before I’m fully happy. I don’t want to go to a 3 day trip to a ttack I’ve never been to on a bike that I’m learning and trying to set up all at the same time.

All moot anyway as the old bike is on its way to Portimao as we speak.
What suspension has the new one got? Bitubo?

I can share my base settings I’ll be getting with my bike if that’s any use

Yep, but the rear is away at the moment getting refreshed, so just got the standard one on at the moment. I need to get the springs sorted too, as no idea what’s in there and want the spares that I’m due to be able to play with them and get the right ones in place.

Be great if you can share though.

It’s all pretty much moot though as the old bike is away to Portimao so unlikely to ride the new one this side of the New Year.

Snetterton yesterday.

Started off wet but dried fairly quickly. Was quite a few red flags, and I understand the last session of Inters there was a bad incident, hope all involved OK. I'd just come round Murrays when the red flags went up so called it a day after that with only 8 mins left of the session I think they scraped it anyway.

Anyone else there enjoy the day?
I was in inters as well. Driving up there with the rain hammering down I thought I'm giving up this track day lark. Taking a day off work, getting up at the crack of sparrows to wobble round in the rain. All that was forgotten by mid morning. Even a mate who caused one of the reds enjoyed it!
I was getting a bit over confident in the last session, so when they red flagged it I called it a day too. Might try a Euro track over winter.

Doggydog.
What were you riding?
Red/white/blue CBR600. Pics are up from the day now.

Got Snetterton booked for 29th of this month. Anyone else going?

Fingers crossed for good weather as it's my first big bike track outing this year!! R1 will be run streetfigther style as my fairings are away being repaired and not due back for another 6 weeks or so
Which R1 have you got? Only ask as I smashed up my early (carbed) one half way through the last day of a recent 3 day Euro event and I tried to run it without any fairing for the last bit and it was very grumpy, lean & misfiring at high speed as air was getting under the tank and accidently pressurising the airbox.

Even a injected one might not be so keen down Snett's straights if it's supposed to run air tubes and you cannot due to lack of a nose cone etc.
Interesting, it's a 99 but there are no air tubes that I know of unless I'm being incredibly dim?

I can't remember the exact set up for the airbox under the tank but certainly nothing obvious air tube wise ala zxr 400/zx7r style.

I was planning to give it a shakedown this weekend to check it over anywho but will play special attention to that, cheers for the heads up!

Air tubes only came in for 2004 onwards.

1998 - 2001 carbed bikes have no ducting and just a simple air box with the intake facing backwards underneath the tank. In it's racing days it was commonplace to put a spacer under the front tank mount to allow a bit more air in (and change the main jets and poss raise the needles).

No fairing at all on might be running it lean at high speed? Mine was certainly doing funny stuff 120+ in it's post crash streetfighter guise and even accelerated a bit after shutting off which I took to be a sign of the fuelling catching up with itself.

Hopefully yours is a bit rich already and can cope with it.

People going to Cartagena end of October-

Bothering taking wets? I'll be taking an extra rear tyre, but wets, I can't decide.

If you're happy to go out in the wet (on wets) why wouldn't you take them? We did Cartagena in October 2 years ago and it rained on a couple of the days.

If space is an issue, you could pay an extra 20 quid each way (depending on who you are going with) and get the wheels taken separately from your stillage

I'm going there 23rd to 25th on track. I won't take wets. Won't have the space. Will be just my luck if it rains too...every track day this year has for me

Take extra front dry tyres too, Cartagena is very hard on both front and rears

The new No Limits stillages are pretty tight on space. They’re longer, but much thinner and little space between the bikes, we even had to undo one and lean it over to get the other bike in, which is a bit st.

I’m not sure how many tyres you’ll get on a stillage now. We struggled to get our kit and two sets of spares on, a set of wets / second set of spare tyres would’ve been a non starter.

Cheers mate. I've got v02s on it but they'll be done first day by lunch once I'm used to the track. Haven't bothered swapping them for new as I'll be learning the track

I've got another medium front soft rear and I bought some KR scrubs. A front and 2 rear so I'll take 2 front 2 rear. I'm sure that's enough

Ah man not what I wanted to hear. I'll get a few pics in case anyone scrolls through and does a similar track day before Xmas. Hoping I can get a 24mx kit bag and 4 tyres in there

One of my mates who blew his mv F3 800 up has decided to get his beemer ready (he has way too many track bikes) and the graphics is as you see. He's mid 40s and if you're below 30 you won't get the old tape brand joke

The rest however is boarder line. You'll either be warped and crude like most us and like it... Or you'll be calling the human rights police eeklaugh

I took my leathers out of my bag and stuffed them between the bikes, my big bag (not the Mrs) sits at the end of the pallet on top of my stands and I place one of my 2 tyres over the tail unit, the other sits flat on the tank.

I cover my bike with a blanket then shrink wrap the 2 bikes making it pretty water tight too.

In the past a group of us has paid for an extra stillage to put all our spare wheels and kit into.

Are those the newer yellow ones with the raised bit for the front wheel?

They need scrapping. Someone was trying to convince me they're a similar volume to their normal ones but in actual usable space they are massively different. As you say it's windscreen off and lose your wets on wheels. It's a problem exacerbated when you run part worns because you often need a few more of those than the well off turning up with new.

They should put up on the schedule when they're going to use them so I can avoid booking those events.

The ones we used were Black and yes I had to remove my screen hence why I now use plastic numberplate bolts and nuts.

The new stillages are a bloody pain. We've just chipped in between the group and got an extra stillage, so we can take one proper sized tool box and then all our kit, wheels and tyres etc on the spare
Seems a bit steep though at £240 for the stillage, when the whole trip costs just over £400, but at least we have loads of space. Also means I can take tyres already mounted on wheels, so I don't have to faff about getting the fitter to do it and potentially lose a couple of sessions as it can be a long wait
Bikes go off to Spain next Saturday, and can't wait
Eyeing up 2018 Jerez trips already too, and quite keen to do the Portimao/Estoril double if I can find the time and money

The stillage thing started out well all those years ago but like everything its got smaller.##

Jerez, yeah, I'd love to go back next year, I'll see whats happening by late January then start booking, looking too maybe do 3 abroad next year because I'm not fussed about doing UK days if I'm honest, too much hassle for 1 day especially if it rains.

Which organiser / dates? Didn't think much had been released yet apart from a mountain of Almeria from FE and Cartagena from NL and a smattering of ParcMotor and Portimao.
