THanks - and hopefully no officious security!
If you get there early enough you might be able to get into the garages the night before. Last year did that and it was ace. This year we were a little later there and everything was locked up (apart from one which occupied by Ariel who allegedly paid for the whole track to themselves) so we had to shufty into the garages pronto when they opened in the morning.

Awesome track btw, have fun!

Cracking weather at Donington. They’re clearing the track with a bucket...

I was there a few years ago when there was an unreal cloud burst, the paddock was about a foot underwater. An hour later it was cracking the flags, but there were two or three rivers running across the track and that puddle was there and kept getting bigger as the water drained.

I’d set off home now to beat the traffic.

Packed up and went back to work at half 11. I hope MSVT refund half of the day since they spent all morning clearing a puddle that was off line anyway

Lost all interest in track right now with this weather

Haven't sat on my track bike since November when I did cartagena

Booked snett stupidly which got cancelled due to snow. My lot booked again couple weeks later but I didn't as there was meant to be a third snow storm. It wasn't but it rained heavy all day

They got on track but it was postponed over an hour while they got the flooding of water off the track

Feels like its dragged on so long this year. My bike can just sit there on trickle charge and I'll get on my boys mx bike see if I can still wobble round

You didn't miss much by not sticking around. We eventually got out on track around 11, and although it'd stopped raining properly, there was a light drizzle all day and it never dried out.
The combined Inters/Fast, which was only a total of around 10 riders, so we did 20mins off 20mins on. I got a good 10 or 11 sessions in, and quite enjoy riding in the wet on an empty track
Apparently the sunshine is going to arrive next week, but I'll wait to see that before I believe it

I’d have actually quite liked to have ridden in that just so I could try rain mode on the bike. I’m sure I’ll get plenty of chances for another wet day though!

Rain mode? I wouldn’t bother. You’ll do a few hundred yards and switch it back to Race / Sport, or whatever they’re now calling the one below Slick.

It’s not got the standard map in for rain mode, it’s the one from HP and they used it when racing in stock 1000 so I guess it’s pretty good

Fair enough. I should’ve thought about that.

Watch out for the system resetting itself it to Rain by default if you disconnect the battery too. I won’t admit to having maybe done a session at Anglesey wondering what the hell was up with my riding as the bike wouldn’t move and kept cutting out on any sort of lean angle whistle

Not sure if my novice track experience really fits here but I’ll put it up anyway.

I went to the brands evening event yesterday and didn’t enjoy it at all.

First off I’d paid £25 for some tuition. Not a great deal of money but I’d expected more than two laps behind the instructor for that and then be told by him after that there really wasn’t much point in it as I should just come along and have a go.

I’d also, obviously, signed up for the novice group. Not inters / novice. Yet I’m pretty sure there were people running slick shod race bikes with warmers in the group. I was no way fast but at the same time there were people buzzing me who if that was their first track outing need to get an agent and go professional.

Somebody also buzzed me way to close on a choppy line on the bit after Graham hill bend. Dangerous and no need imo.

This leads me on to the last thing which was next lap someone crashed on the grass at that same spot apparently having been caught up in a four bike mele and then someone else was rolling around in the dirt at paddock hill.

About 20 laps I got for my £75 track time as the medics were dealing with these crashes and none were available to let anyone else on track.

It was pretty st and I can’t see myself bothering again.

You’ve picked the wrong way to do this for all sorts of reasons. Firstly there tend to only be two groups for evening events Novice / Inters and Inters/Fast. So you were I t he right flgroup but at the wrong event where you need three groups.

Evening events are also crash fests IME and not a true reflection of a normal TD

I'm quite experienced on track and did my first evening at Brands a year or two back. Something about the short nature of the event (only 3 sessions) and the track (just over a mile) seemed to make it a huge dangerous punch up.

After the first two sessions I contemplated calling it quits but ironically the last session was finally calm-ish and I could find some space. I think possibly a third of our group had already crashed - that might've been it.

It seemed to be very opposite of a relaxed, enjoyable enviroment to cane my bike and have the odd good natured dice with another rational human being. Not thought about doing an evening event there again.
