Managed to complete a bucket list item so to speak.
Mugello !!
I had not ventured on track in what feels like forever, so it was fantastic to get back out there, and at a place like this!
While i didn't set the track alight i made improvements throughout the day and had a great time.
The track is truly awesome, and is set is the most beautiful place. Hoping to return at the end of the season.
Next stop Misano on the 31st

Went Donington Tuesday as part of a longtime planned group booking through FB with The Aprilia Factory
It was immense and how I wish every track could be! I lost the buzz a bit having done 2 sessions at Doni exactly 1 year ago before playing silly buggers in the kitty litter and punching a hole in my engine case on my gsxr and I have only been on track twice since
The Tuono went well considering its setup for road. The front brake was my only issue. Had just fitted NG discs due to the oems warping on the sunday for Goodwood with fresh SBS RS pads
Well, the pads done 68 miles and a morning on track...
I dont use the Tuono on track typically so this is very much a one off and my error for running a pad more for road - oh well
Anyways it turns out Performance Bike magazine were there testing the new Triumph 1050RS and I got to ride with Michael Rutter for a bit while he played about on it. He was rapid without even trying and just makes us trackday wkers look exactly that (Shame on the shaky cam think thats why people disliked it)
https://youtu.be/6TEhNHRr8IA
And of course the usual willy waving track shots after it all. Definitely want to do another like that and I think the fact that is was my birthday too finished it off nicely (although driving home after a day on track wasn't so nice as I was shattered)

What EBC pads have you fitted?

SBS’s wear really fast on track. You beat me though I managed to get 2 days out of them! That was what put me onto GPFAX.
The GPFAX ones aren’t lasting me very long. I’m going through a set every other race / trackday. Now that the 2 for 1 offer has ended it’s getting very expensive. Gavia said:

Miss that buy one get one free offer...

You're quick though Gavia. I've found those GPFAX the best of all the pads I've used and get about 2 full days and normally have enough for a morning but my 750 is quite light

You’re too kind, but believe me, I’m not quick. I’m a fat, old bloke enjoying what’s left of my time on a bike. I was late to the party, having never ridden a bike til I was 35. I won't use sbs rs again. Even on road I think they do a sbs carbon which is meant to be a higher operating temp pad

I was at Anglesey on Friday. Bought a 2016 R1 track bike last week and was desperate to get out on it. Unfortunately I killed the British summer. First rain forecast at Anglesey in 3 weeks coincided with my first time out on the new bike. bks
Dont have spare wheels yet for it, but managed to arrange to borrow a set, only to find the sprocket on it was a 525 and mine runs a 520, and because my wheels are dymags and the borrowed ones were standard Yam, the sprockets are different. bks.
After a fk about day before hand, I eventually left to drive down from Scotland at 9pm. Stopped off in Chester to pick up the borrowed wets on wheels and after a bit of blethering, eventually got to Anglesey at 3am for a kip in the van.
Awoke to heavy rain. bks.
Got bike into a garage with lots of friendly folk, went to switch the wheels and tyres over, found out my front paddock stand doesn't fit as it fouls the front wheels speed sensor in one position, and if you move it so it doesn't, you can't remove the spindle because of the front spindle pull cup. bks.
Eventually got myself on to wet tyres, signed on, briefed, and went out for some very very tentative laps. There was only 14 people in fast and I felt like a total fraud. I've really lost my wet weather mojo after a few crashes in the wet, the last one being a biggy that fked my shoulder. So I was bricking it. New bike, st in the wet, not a good combo. I was barely faster than a guy on a road bike with road tyres. bks.
Second session was better, then we had to stop for an early lunch as 2 folks in fast had crashed, supposedly on someone's leaked brake fluid. Took a while to clean it up so early lunch called. bks.
After lunch and the track was just damp instead of wet. Started to get a little faster. Bike was great. Lots of feel from the front on the brakes, and great traction on the way out, I was just scared to lean it over mid corner. Couple more sessions with a dry line appearing in places and by the end of the day, the last session was bone dry. I didn't have a dry on a wheel as due to the sprocket issue I'd had to stick my wet on my dymag, so as my wet was already quite fked, I just left it on and decided to fk it completely it was great fun. Had been slowly lowering the electronic intervention modes and despite the wet tyre on a dry track was getting great drive out the corners, to the point I was popping a Wheelie before I'd even got the thing upright. Going to be fun in the dry on slick tyres. So, not a bad day alroiund. And the verdict on the bike? The dogs bks.

I hope so. Got a trackday at donny on Monday, so will see how I compare to my fast mate on his ZX10R. If I'm as quick as him, or as fast as I was last year, I obviously want to race the new one. If I'm slower, I'll stick to old faithful and learn how to ride this one properly on a trackday

Hope you’ve got a baffle. I did one of these 98dB days the other week and had to roll off at the start of the start / finish straight, as I’d ping the meter otherwise. The one time I didn’t, I tripped it at 102 apparently. This is with a bike that measures 97 static at Oulton. One warning, then it’s home time as well.
