Morning gents,
Tyre question for you please.
I bought a track bike around a year ago with supercorsa sc2 front and sc3 rear tyres fitted.
Previous owner had done one session with those tyres, and I did one day at donington last year.
I have two days booked at Oulton in a few weeks and am debating whether to change the tyres as they have been on there a while after being 'activated' or to just run them as they have been lightly used.
Rubber feels sufficiently supple when I stick my nail in it but realise that isnt overly scientific....
First time at Oulton so pace will be middle intermediate.
Any advice welcome please!

Please let me know if this isn’t the right place to ask this and I’ll delete the thread.
How many track goers use frame sliders / crash protectors? I’ve fitted some R&G Aero crash protectors to my 2016 ZX6R but hearing conflicted info about them doing more harm than good if you come off on track causing the bike to flip or even snapping the frame. I’ve already got bobbins front and rear and in the process of fitting GB Racing engine covers.

I use them and they’ve saved me from bigger bills on a few occasions. Saved a chunk of a friends bike at Cadwell last week.
I have heard of them flipping bikes, though I’ve never seen it.
I’ve crashed two hire bikes - both of these had crash bungs fitted. The hire guys (Smallboy etc) experience a fair number of their bikes being crashed, so wouldn’t fit the bungs if they didn’t make financial sense.

Do you know if they have normal style R&G ones or the race ones that are flush with the fairings like GB Racing?I have heard of them flipping bikes, though I’ve never seen it.

Little article from Life at Lean sums up the pros and cons better than I can:
https://lifeatlean.com/are-crash-bungs-worth-it/
Also worth investing in fork sliders, rear axle sliders, engine protection, etc.

I'm poised to book my first track action in 15 years on a PCP'd retro naked I can't afford to crash...
Does it come flooding back? I'm a little nervous at the thought of Inters being bundled in with the Advanced group on the evening my mate has chosen.
On the plus side I have been round Donington in my Clio before. Also, it's only about 12 miles from home in case I have to walk back!

Needed to ride home and my rear tire was past its best, so I wasn’t happy trying to ride at a pace too far out of my comfort zone.
Did one session and f**ked off.
Give it a try and see how you get on, but I’d personally prefer inters/novice in your situation, if there’s space to move.
Most other TD’ers have got far bigger balls than I though.

R&G fork sliders
R&G swingarm bobbins
R&G Bar Ends
Full GB Racing engine covers
I’m 50/50 on removing the R&G Aero frame sliders.
The only thing I was unsure about were the frame sliders.

Blast, I missed this reply, but think I saw you at the briefing this morning in passing.I’ll be the 6’6 one in BMW leathers…. Riding my Speed Triple
I was wearing cycling kit whenever I wasn’t on the 749! Not staying in leathers for longer than I had to….
