At Bedford this Saturday. Try and get comfy with lefthanders again after a funny spell at Brands GP last week.

First time riding the new bike today. All went well. Even my naive tyre choice.

It’s a 750. Belonged to a mate, he’s now upgraded to a S1000RR. I was considering a new bike and the timing just happened to work ok.

I was Oulton for the first time last week - cracking track.

I bet its a lot faster the more familiar you get with it but was enjoying it by the end of the day, the nice weather certainly helped!

At Donington this Saturday so hopefully that stays dry as well.

Oulton's a mega track, my favourite UK one I reckon over Brands GP and Silverstone
You need few laps to get familiar with it to go fast though, like you say
Once you get the track dialled in and the bike set up for it, it's such a great circuit and flows really well
I was there last Friday for the first time this year, and I'd forgotten how much I love it there so looking for another date this year now before the winter kicks in

Was at Mallory for a James Whitham day on Wednseday and doing Anglesey this weekend.

Was told by an instructor following me on Wednesday I look like Im a high side waiting to happen due to my riding style. It made sense at the time, but Im confused now Ive thought about it. I probably need to get some urgent 1 to 1 instruction to sort it out.

I kind of know what Im doing, I think. Im braking to much and going to slow on corner entry. Then moving from brake to throttle before the apex. Gradually feeding in some throttle to gain some speed, building lean angle until my knees touching. Then using that as a measure to hold that speed and steady throttle until starting to straighten up the bike. Before increasing throttle as picking the bike up. (this is on hairpins & square corners)

Is the point I say 'gradually' the issue, Im not gradual enough.... I wonder if Im actually using the throttle to steer the front of the bike into the apex without realising it & that the bad habit Im forming.

Who was the instructor? Didn't he offer you any more advice?.
It's one of the most common things I see instructing. When your knee is down how much are you off the bike? Do you have big lean angle on the bike??

What is? How Im describing my riding or riders who look like they are going to high side?

Ian Simpson & Richard Cooper, they did give a good explanation that made sense about the size of the contact patch at high lean angles. But when I thought about how I think Im riding I couldnt apply it to me. It did also then rain and we went home. So didnt get more sessions to work on it.

Ian said I had "extreme lean angle". I think (thanks to coaching from you :-) ) that I am hanging off pretty well. Ive been working on my elbow position and wrist angle. Thats got me in what I thinks a good position. (top picture below is more recent)

Tried a Yamaha R7 at Silverstone this week. Really surprised considering they're cheap for a bike nowadays and it was great fun using all of the power most of the time

I was at Mallory yesterday with my 15 year old son
Was nice to just sit in the sun and watch him ride for once

There was no JSS at Cadwell this weekend, so he spent some time on his 600 as he's got dispensation to race it next weekend with Bemsee in the MRO600's

Your boy is going strength to strength. You've put a lot of time and effort (the part non racers don't see). You must be chuffed with what you are seeing now and I hope he still has great hunger for it

Cheers, he’d ride 7 days a week if he could as he loves riding anything whether it’s tracks, enduro or pit bikes
How’s your leg now, are you any closer to being back on a bike ?

Only managed to book the Sunday at Anglesey. But was the most enjoyable track day I’ve done. Perfect conditions and well run day. Can’t wait for next year & doing the whole 3 days!

Just back from an immense 3 days at Portimao.

Third Euro I’ve done and the only one I’ve really enjoyed, for various reasons.

Bloody superb track.

Hated it for the first two sessions, seemed that every good corner was messed up with a tight or blind one straight after, but once I had a bit of a clue as to whether I was going left, right or straight on I loved it.

Pretty much every session was just super good fun.

Felt my riding improved a fair amount and I started to get a real feel for the new bike. Will probably all go to sh*t again on my next TD, but it was great while it lasted!

Need to get something else booked ASAP.
