Just back from an immense 3 days at Portimao.
Third Euro I’ve done and the only one I’ve really enjoyed, for various reasons.
Bloody superb track.
Hated it for the first two sessions, seemed that every good corner was messed up with a tight or blind one straight after, but once I had a bit of a clue as to whether I was going left, right or straight on I loved it.
Pretty much every session was just super good fun.
Felt my riding improved a fair amount and I started to get a real feel for the new bike. Will probably all go to sh*t again on my next TD, but it was great while it lasted!
Need to get something else booked ASAP.
Excellent to hear, Portimao is awesome, 8-10 are a bit of a mind f*** being fast and blind, but so rewarding when you get them right, and the run down to Turn 1 is immense, I am still nowhere near max attack there after 7 visits its so much more open than your brain (well mine anyway) lets me believe !!!!Third Euro I’ve done and the only one I’ve really enjoyed, for various reasons.

I was also on the same trip as Simon, felt like I'd never rode a bike before the first morning....a very difficult but rewarding place!
Been watching some YouTube laps since I've been back and now I'm familiar with the place, there's sections where my lines were way off and loads of time to be made up....that'll have to wait until the next visit!
Also found some areas of the bike that 'need' money throwing at, which is always fun.

I've never struggled with a part of any track like I did with turns 10 and 11, was all over the place every time I come over the brow of 10...realising I'm either way too slow or off line for 11! Needed a whole week for that section Tribal Chestnut said:

It's a superb place, the evenings there are great too with all the night life. Third Euro I’ve done and the only one I’ve really enjoyed, for various reasons.

I'm there in a couple of weeks and taking 3 friends who have never been, 2 of which have never done a euro so cant wait to see their faces after the first session.

If they’re anything like me it’ll be ‘FFS, this is sh*t, keep getting lost’, two sessions later they’ll be in love. I'm there in a couple of weeks and taking 3 friends who have never been, 2 of which have never done a euro so cant wait to see their faces after the first session.

Taking a bit of a gamble with Brands Indy for the 3rd Oct. Anyone else….?
Keeping an eye on the weather. If looking OK I'll book it a few days prior. One of the advantages of living 20 mins away.
(doing the same for the 26th,although the forecast is getting worse!)

Bit of a boring post but informative if nothing else
I run diamond Tyre Warmers for my track bike(s) and have always used a fairly big SGS 2.2kw generator. It's brilliant but big and heavy
My old man from his work got me this little 2 stroke one which weighs nothing and is 1/4 of the size
Having never used a 2 stroke generator I thought it might come in handy with something but it's got a continuous of 850w and peak I think about 1000w
I've seen a couple being used when I was at a 2t track day so thought they just work
Well I plugged mine to it today and it ran fine. It's about the max the generator can handle and I could hear on initial plug in when cold the engine for a split second struggled but it ran them fine and got upto temp no problem at all
I'm sure most won't need to worry or care but there might be someone at some point looking for a cheap £99 generator and I can confirm these will do the job

A mate had one of those, but made about 1kw constant power and maybe a peak of 1.2 or something similarI run diamond Tyre Warmers for my track bike(s) and have always used a fairly big SGS 2.2kw generator. It's brilliant but big and heavy

It did ok for the odd day we couldn't get normal power, but would get very hot during the day to the point where you'd worry it was going to go pop
Was very small and light though, so way easier than lugging a massive brick around
A couple of pics from Cartagena last weekend
Went with my 16yr old, but unfortunaly, his ZX6R didn't last beyond the first day before breaking down, so he rode my R1 and I got relegated to spectator duties
He got on pretty well with it though, and not sure he's that keen on getting his 600 fixed just yet

Just booked Almera 18th March 4 days £579 Inc hotel and breakfast. Flights were £68 return so thought why not
Not sure if anyone else booked
Who’s that with? Not sure if anyone else booked
I was looking to book something in December, but everyone is grumbling about money.
One of them is talking about Jan, but I’d like a little more certainty on conditions tbh.

Silverstone 2023 dates now on their site, anyone that went last year would have got a discount code emailed today.
I've booked the three short circuit days.
Nope, not received mine yet despite doing a day there this year. Their black friday 50% off code didn’t work (unsurprisingly) despite suggesting it covered everything - pah!! I've booked the three short circuit days.
R1 is now abandoned at a mate’s barn for the next 5 months while I do DIY type rubbish / boiler install / garage conversion over the dark months. Was hoping for discount code for Silverstone’s Easter Bank Hol date to focus the mind.
