Off to Knockhill on Monday, full day, slow as fk group. Never been round there on a bike before and this is the first time the bikes been out since rebuild so this could be 'interesting'. Forecast is alternating between a fricking deluge and just grimly grey and damp. . Date seems kind of appropriate.
I work about 10 minutes away from it, I looked at this date. It's the temperature that would be putting me off its struggling to get over 6 degrees here still. I've done trackdays up there in FEB-APR and its been dry but so cold I stuck a wet on the front. Dakkon said:
Completely agree, I was expecting some proper feedback on my riding and apart from look, lean, roll, look ahead more and the speed triangle as general discussions with the group there was nothing.
Cadwell is a serious trek for me, hired a van, booked a hotel etc and it was not what I was expecting at all.
For someones very first time on track it might be ok, but beyond that not so great, to be honest, I was and am seriously disappointed with the day. You read online reviews and they rave about HRT, so with that expectation, I am feeling somewhat underwhelmed.
CSS knocks spots of them, but it is a more expensive day.
I had similar experience with the Niall Mackenzie superbike school. It was just a track day with a few famous riders. I was disappointed at the time but I realise now if you want coaching your gonna have to pay a lot, lot more. Will do, I'll be in a big rental van too, it's my bedroom for the night before. Getting too old to ride to the track, go all day then ride home
Ditto.my normal Motel Vito has been replaced by some behemoth XLWB Transit or Sprinter type thing for my 5 day tripPersonally. I've never had a good nights sleep in a BnB before a trackday. I dunno if it was the fact you had to get up at the crack of dawn and still drive to the circuit or the strangeness of a hotel room. Even when I raced at knockhill, only a 20 mile drive from my house I'd stay in the van the night before.
Hand on heart, the best sleeps I've had have been in the boot of my Skoda at the circuit.
I get my oscillating fan noise using spotify on constant repeat, or a thunder storm, headphones in and I'm out like a light.

I know everyone generally slags Focused Events off but I’ve always carried on using them as I actually find the events are run well. The logistics / UK based side of it is an absolute nightmare to deal with though.
I’ve been booked on the exclusive event at Almeria on the 21st September for months. A few days ago they emailed with the drop off info, expecting the bikes next weekend. 4 weeks to take the bikes to Spain for a 3 day event. And then they also want 4 weeks coming back too.
In short I’ll never be using them again and can understand why they have such a st reputation. Now need to find a replacement last minute euro track day for September...
