Just noticed a leak on my can at the point where the chrome surround meets the carbon style sleeve. Seems a strange point for a leak as this isn't a connection. Before I take things apart anyone else had anything similar?

Under the chrome sleeve is either some pop rivets or a "pinch" fixing, its fairly common after many years for the carbon outer to pull away from the rivets or join, especially if it was cheaply made.

Ive no idea what exhaust you have, so not sure on the exact fixing.

You can buy replacement sleeves like this to repair it, if you wish to take it apart

...or bung some exhaust paste down it and hope!

OK, the carbon sleeve may be the outer skin? I assumed is was for show only and had a sealed metal skin underneath.

No....but people have put a carbon sleeve over stainless and alloy cans..usually to hide crash damage.
