Decent trackbike?
Discussion
I've been offered a 04 Yamaha R1 that has had just 1 owner (who I know) for just £1,500. This bike will be a track bike (it's a road bike at the minute), and the catch is it's got 90,000 miles on it.
It's been serviced regularly and had a very easy life. So i'm thinking this should be OK. Thoughts? There seem to be a fair few guys running over 100k miles on R1's.
I'm thinking i'd be a fool to turn this down as i've been looking for a trackbike for a while now.
I could maybe treat it to an engine refresh over the winter, any idea on costs?

If you don't I will.
Me too Just give it a damn good service including valve check, check and replace any bearings that need it, change the fork oil and maybe buy a low mileage shock off ebay and it'll most probably be fine, just change the oil every couple of track days and keep an eye on the rest of it.
You should be able to sell most of the road gear to fund track fairings and crash protection, its what I would do.
