Gutted for you, I once had the same experience only it was a car...
I'd just get a larger chain, like an Almax or pragmasis 16mm. Very few bolt cutters will open wide enough to cut those, so the thieves would need power tools, and most likely find an easier target. if you have too many things to put on, you might get lazy one day and forget one, I'd just go for one big security measure.
Good advice ^^^ it's an ancient vid but have a look here to see how easily some of the "Sold Secure" chains can be cropped https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC3hFr8p2ckI'd just get a larger chain, like an Almax or pragmasis 16mm. I appreciate the extra security features thing breeding complacency comment....
Thinking just a new chain and disc lock:
Almax 3 or 4 chain
Abus 68 disc lock
Any thoughts?
As far as I'm aware even the Protector 13mm chain is uncroppable (need to check) - the 16mm definitely is. That and a Squire SS65 should do the business. Thinking just a new chain and disc lock:
Almax 3 or 4 chain
Abus 68 disc lock
Any thoughts?
And clarify your excess situation.

well you've already ignored my post, but imo you should not buy that style of disc lock as they are easy to defeat, you should buy this style abus 37 if you like abusAny thoughts?

the motrax vishas is no longer made but was basically indestructible (unlike almost anything else made by motrax!) so worth picking one up secondhand off ebay if you keep your eye out. Or this abus disc lock (sorted pic above now - link below) is good. With all disc locks though you have to make sure they fit your bike as some bikes have small holes etc so it's a bit of a pain - I've had some that fit some of my bikes but not others. If you buy an almax or pragmasis chain and lock buy it slightly longer than you think you need IMO as too short is very very awkward to use.

Wtf is wrong with society these days that someone would go to the hassle to steal a bike. Face a prison sentence just to the ride around the streets for a night then fling it in a pond.
At least if it was an organised hit for parts that I could understand
But just for a buzz.
Kill Them
Prison sentence? You jest! At least if it was an organised hit for parts that I could understand
But just for a buzz.
Kill Them
Steal £2000 from a bank - serious crime.
Steal a £2000 bike - youthful high jinks.
