Speedo problem

Hi all. I have a problem with the speedo on my bike. It stopped working completely so I replaced the speedo cable. Now the speedo is working but the needle is moving very slowly. The needle on the rev counter is now moving very slowly aswel but it was fine before. 3 bulbs have also blown in the dash. Ive looked at the wiring and all seems fine. Can anyone give me an idea as to what the problem might be. Thanks in advance.
