Well, as unbelievably gutted as I am that Tony ( Fleegle) and I shall not be racing at Oulton on Sat.13th , I can only say how much greater my disappointment would have been had we already paid( and I was trying..) the£ 550 entry fee between us.....this tempers my disappointment somewhat, very sorry for those who may have done so already ...
We shall find alternative fields to take part in- no doubt some of the NoLimits remaining rounds.....between a few of us, TBA..

That sounds too harsh. I'm really not having a go by the way but a 2 dayer is going to cost hottrax 36K in tracktime. I don't know what other expenses they incur to run an event in terms of marshalling etc.
I'm not defending hottrax hear by the way, I've never used them, and I do support No Linits, but it seems like they have been caught out by the success of NLR this year.

I can see why Oulton could make or break a company though. It's a track that everyone loves, but it has the problem that Sunday racing isn't an option until the afternoon. The Bank Holiday dates are all given to the top level series, so it becomes a one day race weekend and many choose not to do it for that reason, or decide at short notice.
Bearing in mind that the official close date for entries is two weeks before the race dates then it would be today and with minimal entries it's pushed them over the edge. However, there is a view that any race series should hold a healthy cash balance, which glancing at their accounts doesn't seem to be the case. They should expect to lose money at some rounds, just as every business expects some customers not to pay.

failed badly.I'm not defending hottrax hear by the way, I've never used them, and I do support No Linits, but it seems like they have been caught out by the success of NLR this year.
Business is based on "Risk & Reward" so Hottrax took the risks and when the grids were full the reaped the rewards. When the grid was depleted or uncertain they took the risk and on this occasion it failed badly.
Today few clubs can afford to host a meeting solo. They need to either go in with a bigger club and buy a grid or two or alternatively sell grids to smaller clubs. If you take the risk and rely totally on the income stream then you are exposed and just what has happened can and will happen.
Sorry that they have gone pop but the only real winners these days seem to be the circuit owners as they get either a hefty deposit or payment in full whether the event goes ahead or is poorly supported but again back to my "Risk & Reward" they took the risk to buy the circuit.
Sorry for the ramble but life is a gamble and so is business.
I think there is an element of msv trying to expand and take a bigger cut of the market and profits. NL were at Oulton on Wednesday. They paid 18K for the circuit and probably made 22-23K, so 4-5K profit max.
On the monday bank holiday, MSV ran their own Trackday and only had 30 people book. They got about 5-5.5K from the day. The fact they are willing to lose so much money on a day to try and steal market share is worrying to me.

I never paid, so that makes 29, even more worrying. On the monday bank holiday, MSV ran their own Trackday and only had 30 people book. They got about 5-5.5K from the day. The fact they are willing to lose so much money on a day to try and steal market share is worrying to me.
Speaking of paying for trackdays, where's my money for knockhill.
Not sure MSV are trying to expand. No Limits Racing is the old MSVR series, that wasn't overly successful and MSV are being very good with No Limits in general. They do keep some dates back for themselves and always have done, but their days aren't as well supported, as they aren't very well publicised.
I heard that FE couldn't reach an agreement with MSV this year, but not sure which side is to blame there, if any.
MSV seem happy enough to own the rights to BSB and organise that series, whilst passing the riskier stuff off to others. They're just not very good at pricing or marketing, by the looks of Monday. I wonder if they had that earmarked for another race series though and that didn't happen for whatever reason, so they just decided to run a bike day on a whim at short notice.

Neil, I have no problem with your reasoning , agreeing in principle, however , I shall probably always remain in the camp of only really being prepared to part with advance payment for a service ( entries were open up until the Friday 12th..) once every other factor within my control which may result in me losing said monies have been eradicated.I'm not defending hottrax hear by the way, I've never used them, and I do support No Linits, but it seems like they have been caught out by the success of NLR this year.
In this instance, that was Monday and that was when I started trying to book and pay.....fortunately unsuccesfully . In an ideal world £275 each would not be much to think or worry about , but you have seen how much lager and curry I like to quaff and as the saying goes "you can't have everything "...!
