Road miles for the fair weather riders amongst us
Discussion
About 20 miles (10 on each bike) to and from the MOT station.
Trouble is I can't just jump on my bikes and go. One is stuck in an 8 x 6 shed and needs wheelie bins moved etc plus it needs manhandled out of the gate into the alley.
The other is kept a mile away which means getting kitted up and driving the car to get the bike.
Done about 300 miles so far. Only been insured/taxed from beginning of May, been working most of that and then week off last week with kids off Out tomorrow assuming the howling gales and driving rain die down a bit. I used to go out in all weathers but got fed up of cleaning the bike every time as it looked like it's been pushed into a canal. It's lack of time more than anything that keeps me off it
Zero!
Poor weather after Christmas and I have been up to my eyeballs after a house move and trying to sort out so many other jobs. Bike did get a full service over Christmas though. MOT/tax/insurance expires at the end of March so it has been SORN'd until I see a 'window of opportunity'

How many miles have you all managed this year so far? I've been out once for about an hour at the end of April. Other than that the weather has been too crap to bother going out. Has anyone else suffered the same?
This will no doubt get spammed by the All Weather Superheroes, but I've got a car so no need to get everywhere soaked to the bone and freezing cold.
Loon, you do write some contentious comments. This will no doubt get spammed by the All Weather Superheroes, but I've got a car so no need to get everywhere soaked to the bone and freezing cold.
For instance, far from being an All Weather Superhero (I may well be, but it is fecking miserable on a bike, caught in a hailstorm on the M25, with heated grips that don't), just because some people do/can/choose to/ love it, don't let it bother you.
If I had a car, more often than not to go to work meetings, I'd use it. But current circumstances mean my wife has the car and I use the train/bus or bike, as needs be.
Notwithstanding a bike 'can' get you somewhere faster, it can also be a royal pain.
I make th emost of good weather too though - I mean there cannot be that many people (cue deluge...) of people who actively choose to go out in foul weather.
Regardless, whilst not able to go out as much as I'd like, I've still managed 10 days this year when the weather was lovely enough and the road quiet enough to make a blast on the bike a real pleasure.
My Daytona has probably managed 5k over the four years i've owned it, and prob the last 2k of those have been on track- it hasn't been on the road for two years now albeit that hasn't prevent "me" getting a NIP for speeding on the M11. My Ducati has prob done 500miles or so this yr, mostly damp too - but only because i wanted to get some more wet miles under my belt in prep for some trackdays this year. My Vespa has managed a solid 22 miles since Saturday, and i have already picked up a puncture. Awesome.
Ive done 6k since i bought the bike in December in all weathers.
I can quite honestly say i havent got wet once. Been damp a few times, but never wet to the point that i wouldnt put the gear back on again if i needed to. The joys of a full fairing
I had fking cold hands a couple times. My own fault for deciding at the start of January that "itll soon be spring" What a dick.
As for the condition of the bike, ive washed it once since i got it and that was about a month ago. It scrubbed up well, with minimal rust for a 40k 16 year old bike. Good job Honda.

Not done many miles this year so far, the weather in NE Scotland has been awful.
There have been a few nice days where I've got two of the bikes MOT'd and gone for a run but I've probably done less than a thousand miles in total.
I have an old BMW cafe racer thing that's done about 300 miles last year, but not it's electrical issues are hopefully behind it I intend to use it a lot more.
I bought my CB1300 last year and spent the winter tidying it up and adding shiny trinkets so I'll be doing around 3-4k on it this year.
I work offshore and have 3 weeks off at a time so I'm intending to get some decent milage done in a week or so. If the weathers nice.
